Hellooo. You don't have to know my name. Know that I'm a high school student...and that's about it.

Part-time FF writer. I try to update once a week but, you know...life. Once a month? Once ever...two months?

I drop by here and then again to answer messages :) Also, someone has plagiarized my work before. If you think this is the case (especially on other sites such as Wattpad), I'd really appreciate a message to let me know!

Important Note

Lately there's a lot of stuff going around about artists and their obligation to satisfy their viewers. It's going on in books (GRRM on the ASOIAF, in particular) and shows, and art, and fanfiction where everything is driven by what the "fans" want which takes away from what the artist feels that they want to give out. There's a quote somewhere. "It's not the job of the artist to give the audience what the audience wants. If the audience knew what they needed, then they wouldn't be the audience. They would be the artists. It is the job of the artists to give the audience what they need."

I'm not saying I'm pressured. Look all over this profile. Fanfiction is a fun side hobby, and I do love getting messages asking when my next update is. It makes me feel pretty great to be honest to know that there's a person out there who likes to read what I come up with. Just keep that quote in mind as you browse through your other fanfiction reads :)

Follow me on my fanfic-related tumblr here :) I usually post snippets and whatnot but mostly just reblog pictures. Follow backs, because...you know...no reason not to.

Oh, and also my livejournal which is more post-orientated. There will be drafts, and bits that were not posted.

On request, if you want to see all the anime/books I've read, you can check it out here and here. Feel free to recommend me any other!

If I ever PM'd you because of a review you made, don't be startled by all the "thank you"s and "sorry"s and "I hope"s. I'm Canadian. I'm just raised this way. Can't help it.

PS I am a people-pleaser omg. Take advantage of me - tell me to check out your story, and 9/10 times I will. I can guarantee to read at least a chapter even though my attention span is of that of a rat. I will review everything and, depending on the content of your story, will be pretty thought-out and long. That being said, this is where the whole Canadian thing comes to an end. Honest, constructive criticism is always the way to go.

On Fanfiction:

There are a lot of controversies over fanfiction, whether they are okay in the legal aspect or not, and especially good for writers. I don't think I'll ever be a published writer, and it is almost a pastime to me - although not a significantly large one. With this in mind, I do apologize for not putting disclaimers because quite honestly I do not take FFs too seriously so, to me, it is redundant to say that I do not own anything.

Here's my thing with FFs:

I am conflicted. They're fun to write, especially in the anime world where that short twenty-thirty minute episode series (even the ones that have 100 episodes!) don't do certain characters justice. We want to see more of them. We want to know more of them. And with the language barrier and the fact most animes if not all are based off mangas, it's hard to know what goes down in the minds of the creators.

And here comes the FF. And that's why I write most of my stories - because I want to delve deeper into characters. Show new sides. Whatever. It's fun, it's light, it's not serious.

And not to discredit animes, but it's a little different when I'm writing something based off published English works. For the first year, I avoided vehemently writing anything based on books and novels because usually they are absolutely perfect on their own.

One of my favourite authors of all time, George R Martin is against FF (very justly so, you can read the post about it here). I respect it. I would never approach that territory anyway because he does it so flawlessly and every character is incredibly well written. I can't add anything even if I wanted to, and again, I would never attempt. Then there's Cassandra Clare, another influence, and she does not mind it at all (ergo my submission of Of Love and Poison on this site). Newly-started story Aurulant is...well, Finnick dies. Come on. It's a part of my grieving process.

Although I probably won't delete this account, I think it's safe to say that I may leave behind the very fun, very...responsive world in order to build up my own writing skills. I spend about 1/2 my time writing reports and essays, 1/3 on FFs which leaves a little bit left for my own original, creative works and I've noticed the damage done. Although the technical skills were improved, the overall idea of being a writer suffered. I'm sure there's a bunch of great writers on this site who only gets better - both original and FF - but I am not one of them.

I guess the main point of this little spiel is that I do this for fun. It helps me improve my own writing skills that would not have been critiqued as fast otherwise. I admit that it's a lot easier to get into a world already created, and even easier since there are devoted fans who will click on your story to hear about so and so. This is a guilty pleasure, no more, no less.

On Grammar:

God. I don't know where to begin. Do keep in mind that although I do try, I tend to overlook many many mistakes - so it is not error free until several days after I post up a chapter! Being relatively young and a part of the Ontario Education system where grammar is expanded on in the curriculum as much as colouring is in Math, the only way for me to improve my own grammar is through reading and notes by others. With that said, you may notice the changes in my writing style is in each story - Hell, maybe even in each chapter. My grammar is not very consistent and is constantly changing and developing. Maybe one day, I'll go back to the completed stories and fix them - but for now, time to move on.

So I deeply apologize for grammar mistakes. I just hope it isn't so troublesome you give up. If so, do leave a review and tell me - then I'll probably make an effort to fix it up for other, future readers :)

Feel free to educate me on constant mistakes (or even a single mistake) that I'm making :)

On Mary-Sues:

I admit it. I am guilty of them. I am aware of them. Amari of Ice-Cubes is the epitome of a Mary-Sue, from her relationship with others, appearance, personality and whatnot. But I have fixed her, slightly albeit relatively unsuccessfully. Hanako and Akane, both, have several criteria of a Mary-Sue (e.g. appearance, the sudden "shift" in skill etc) but hopefully, you also realize their "redeeming" qualities (i.e. "normal traits"; e.g. compulsiveness that leads to genuine self-destruction, isolation, lack of mental stability, sensible limits, inabilities to relate to others - and not in the cool sense but in the literal 'I suck at life' way, cowardice etc). Rei is slightly better, just slightly, but she also fits the criteria of the saint complex Mary-Sue. Choose your poison. And hopefully, Sayuri, Kaede, Ayame, Winnie, Lexi, Marcella (geez, that's a lot of OCs) would do...better.

And if not, for that - I apologize.

It's great if you would skip past this fact, but I can't ask of readers to do that. Because I don't. :)

But at least now you all know that I am aware of it, but it's too late to fix it all now.

Often, I am aware of what I'm doing wrong. Still, feel free to point it out. I'm young and new at this enough (not that there's ever a limit) to ask for constructive criticism but not stupid enough to hyperventilate when it isn't a "praise" one. But if you're just going to say "I hate this, you're stupid, stop writing" etc...then you, ma'am/sir, can get out.

On Canon:

I do make a conscious effort on keeping characters in character. Doing a bad job? Tell me! Which character, which chapter. I will read it over, and try to fix it :) I'm not quite sure why I am so meticulous about this little detail, but why read a fanfic when the canon characters aren't even canon? I also try to slip in most canon material and plot lines as much as possible, and try to keep to the main plot and sometimes even go as far as watching the episode, and copying out the dialogue. Little, little details.

I ADD "U" IN SOME WORDS.

I AM CANADIAN.

THIS IS HOW WE SPELL.
