Author has written 12 stories for Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Naruto, and Eyeshield 21. Name: sunnycalendargirl What else: I write to alleviate the stress of a high-end software development career. I write exclusively in anime/manga fandoms, because I find them the most flexible and fun. I'll beta read far outside those boundaries, however. I've been a programmer for over a decade, and I've been writing fanfiction for eight years, according to FanFiction.net. All of my fic that I've shared is posted in one of these two accounts (see "alternate profile" above). My other account is mostly fandoms I'll never write in again, and I don't use it because due to an email change and password change, I simply can't get into that account anyway anymore. Fandoms: Over time, you'll find fanfiction here for Eyeshield 21, Katekyo Hitman Reborn, Mirage of Blaze, Nabari no Ou, Naruto, Natsumi Yuujinchou, and a lot more. For now I'm focusing on Katekyo Hitman Reborn because my NaNoWriMo fic has turned into an enormous but popular beast. I'll try to slip other things in, however. Feedback: I enjoy getting feedback, both flattering and constructive. So if you have an opinion, feel free to express it. We may not agree, but that's part of the fun of writing. Not everyone will love everything you write. Learning to rise above that and follow your muse is part of learning to love to write. Of course, if you have atrocious grammar, use a beta. If you want to talk outside of the comment/review area, feel free to PM me. I'll try to answer any questions I can. Beta Reading: I'm listed as an available beta reader on FanFiction.net. If you'd like me to work with you on your fic, review it, or anything similar, just let me know! I'm always happy to help as long as it fits in my schedule. In addition, lately I've had a few people say "I have this great idea but I don't know how to get it out on paper". I'm happy to look at teaming up with another writer to help with that, if I like the idea. I'm a fast and prolific writer, so feel free to pitch at me. Fun Stuff: Books: I'm an avid and prolific reader. I average about 8-10 books, novels, graphic novels a week. My goal this year is 250 books. I believe that the only way to truly learn to be a good writer is to READ. Read, take note of style, flow and characterization. Spelling and grammar can be fixed by a good editor. The others can't. You need to find your own voice, smooth in into something people will want to read, and then run with it. Reading helps you get there. I'm always happy to recommend books based on someone's interest. I've read tens of thousands of them, at this point. Television/DVDs: I just finished catching up with Chuck, watched all of Reaper, caught up with Burn Notice, and recently got hooked on Human Target. Aside from those, I'm a huge House fan, I love Psych, Royal Pains, Tru Blood, Dexter and all the various fashion reality shows (Project Runway, Launch My Line, The Fashion Show). Oh, and I love Chelsea Lately. For anime, of course my fandoms listed above, but I have a huge collection of DVDs crossing a ton of genres. I'm a huge shounen fan, however. I really love the challenge of a boy growing into a man and learning to look out for himself and the people around him while overcoming challenges. I prefer watching television shows on DVR or DVD. Less scheduling stress. Right now, I'm watching Eyeshield 21 and I'm at Episode 81 as of today. Games: I just got a Wii for Christmas, and I have a couple Naruto games, I have Mini Ninjas, two Indiana Jones Lego games and the Wii Fit Plus package. So I spend a good amount of time bonding with my Wii to work my fat ass into better shape. I always love recommendations for new games. Other Stuff: I hate it when people pick on themselves or other people. No one should ever put anyone else down. On the other hand, there's a difference between deliberately hurting someone and being honest. So if I comment on a story and say "I like the plot but your grammar and spelling really need some work, would you like a beta?" it means I really do like your plot, but the bad spelling and the grammar issues keep me from enjoying it. I'm not saying you suck or anything like that. AHEM: Not dead. I promise. Still writing when I can. Got promoted, lots of work, less free time. (1/31/14) |
