Anyways that's pretty much me in a nutshell.

My life as a pokemon trainer challenge:
This challenge is all about you. The challenger of this has to be the main character in the story. you and your family live in the pokemon world, and you are starting your journey in the world of pokemon.

Rules:
You are the main character. You don't have to use your real name if you don't want to, but your personality, habits, and most of your looks(If you want to change a few things to keep your privacy, that's fine.) must all be in your main character.

You must use your actual family in this fic. Again, names and looks don't have to be the same, but their personalities, habits, and the way they behave as a family must be identical. If for any reason you have no family, you are exempt from this rule.

Whatever region you start in doesn't matter one bit. You can make up an entirely new region if you want. This also applies to your hometown.

You are allowed to have any pokemon you want, so long as it's not a major legendary, which is basically whatever legendary isn't allowed into the battle tower, frontier, or subway. Up to six pokemon, excluding your starter, may have their dream world ability.

You are allowed a maximum of one minor legendary. If applicable, the legendary may replace its normal ability with its dream world ability.

To erase any and all confusion of what legendary applies as a minor legendary, here is a list of all valid legendaries:
Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Entei, Suicune, Raikou, Latias, Latios, Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Mesprit, Uxie, Azelf, Cresselia, Heatran, Regigigas, Cobalion, Terrakion, Virizion, Tornadus, Thundurus, Landorous

You don't have to get one of the three starters as your starter pokemon. You can if you want, but you can get another kind of pokemon if you want. How you get your starter must be explained in the fanfiction. Your starter may replace its normal ability with its dream world ability.

You are allowed to use your friends, both internet and real life, as friendly rivals and/or travelling partners in your fanfic.

You are allowed one major rival. He or she can be a real life person you know, or completely fictional. An older sibling may be used.

In game criminal organizations may be used, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

You are allowed to be either a trainer or coordinator.

If you have an older sibling, he/she will replace one of the gym leaders, elite four, champion, or major rival of your choice. Once again, names and looks can be different, but personality and habits must be identical. Also, if your older sibling is the champion or major rival in your story, he/she must have one and only one minor legendary, and backstory must be provided on how it was captured. Your older sibling is allowed to roam the region and bump into you occasionally if you so wish. Should your older sibling be your major rival, you two will fight in the grand festival finals or the the regional league finals. You can win or lose if you want, but it has to be extremely narrow.

Captured with the best intentions challenge:
We've all seen the movies. Ash is enjoying his journey, minding his own business, when out of the blue he gets swept up into some problem concerning one or more legendary pokemon. A big fight happens, Ash helps save the day, and everyone goes their separate ways. Usually during these aforementioned big fights, one or more legendary pokemon gets their asses royally handed to them and they collapse, sometimes in front of our trouble magnetic hero. Now I don't know about you guys, but there were times i would shout, "You moron, there's a perfectly good legendary pokemon right there in front of you, and you're going the other way. Catch it you fool." Now you're probably saying that he couldn't because something else was going on that either caused him to need to vacate the area, required his attention more than the legendary, or was never in a position where a capture could be feasible. I agree with you guys, your points are valid and I won't discredit them because that's usually always the case. So the point of this challenge is...what would happen if those restrictions never applied.

Rules: The idea is that during canon events in one of the pokemon movies where Ash has a chance to capture a legendary, he takes it. An example would be Articuno in the movie 2000. Ash could tell his friends he'll be right behind them, and capture Articuno, and after everything is said and done, Ash would begin to release Articuno, but the ice bird stops him and gets the message that it wishes to accompany him across. The rules are as follows.
1) Ash can only capture a downed legendary during events happening from the movies, not the anime. Furthermore, Ash can only capture one legendary in the fic. He can't catch Articuno, then later capture another legendary met in another movie or an anime episode. One exception to this rule will apply, see rule 3 for details.
2)Ash can only capture a legendary pokemon that has been taken down. One can't just capture a legend when it's on the warpath. Ash must also capture the downed legend plausibly, he can't go back in time to Deoxys and Rayquaza's fight in the arctic just to capture the Deoxys. Due to the extremely limited amount of choices imposed by these rules, events can be slightly manipulated in a completely plausible way to allow for more choices to be opened up.
3) To avoid any and all confusion of valid options, this is the list of legendary pokemon that can be captured:
Articuno, Lugia, Celebi, Latios, Giratina, Dialga, Palkia, Keldeo. Please note that this list will continue to grow as more movies are released. All names in italics are legendaries who can only be captured by plausibly altered events in the movies. If Latios is chosen, Ash will also obtain Latias as well. This is the only exception to rule 1. Giratina can either be captured as normal (movie 11), or captured through plausibly altered events (movie 12).
4) Ash must only capture the legendary of choice to keep it out of further harm and/or out of the villian's clutches, and not because he simply wants the legendary. He then must offer to release it after all conflicts of the movie have been resolved. The legendary will of course, choose to stay with Ash.

Pairings: Pairings can be anything you want, just no yaoi. The pairing must also be plausible and proper. You can't pair Ash with Cynthia if she only makes three appearances and Ash just suddenly spouts i love you. It just doesn't work like that.

Update:

To all my fanfiction fans, this is an important update regarding all my stories. All current stories save Storming Unova, Hymns of Adventure, and The Journey to Awakening: Through a Dragon's Eyes will be deleted on August 31st. All deleted stories are being given a major update in plot and writing style. HoA and SU are remaining because they are short enough that they can be updated without reposting. Final Piece of my Heart in particular will be given the most drastic change, beoming a new story retitled Shattered and Reforged.
