![]() Author has written 4 stories for Fire Emblem, Mario, Touhou Project, Hyperdimension Neptunia, and High School DxD/ハイスクールD×D. Gender: Nothing you need to know about Age: Definitely not something you need to know about Welcome to my Profile! Frankly, I'm not too confident in my writing ability. I do however, enjoy thinking up of new ideas and being creative with them even if they aren't always the best. Then what eventually comes out are the stories you see below. There's only a few, but mostly because I don't have the guts or confidence to post any more from my only source of internet. What does come up here is after long hours of thinking whether or not it's really for the best to do so. I enjoy writing very much, even if it isn't the best and at the core, that's what I end up writing even if I get nothing (Praise or even flaming) out of it. I won't lie that it's demoralizing to put something that you put a lot of time and effort into only to not get too much out of it either though. Characters: One of the most crucial parts of a story. A good character can make or break a story even if the plot is at minimum, decent. As you can see below, I'm a picky person with more negatives than positives. Let's get to it! Favorite Type of Character: Characters that receive development over time, changing and growing along the way of conflict are my favorite kinds of characters. Nobody remains the same. It's just how real life is and that's the most interesting kind of character in my opinion. The person of five years ago will not always make the same decision as the person of the now. This is an interesting character to empathize with and it's why I tend to like stories with characters like that. It's also why I tend to veer towards Anti-heroes since they're the most interesting. It's also why I absolutely love the Persona characters (Not including the MC's since they're technically avatars) since each of them have their own stories you see throughout the game or through their social links. They even have their own resolutions of their heart and they become stronger people because of their experiences, literally even embodied in their Personas they use when you reach that portion of the game (Social Link or Game Plot). So, TLDR: Characters that change over time, usually through conflict. Type of Characters I dislike: An Unchanging Hero - Someone who doesn't change is absolutely boring. You can expect them to say the same thing in every situation or attempt to do the same thing as before. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how you look at it, the above means that I tend to dislike most shonen heroes. Naruto, personally, is probably the biggest offender of this and there's only a few Naruto fics I'll like as a result. However, even I'm getting tired of having to sift through the NUMEROUS fics and crossovers that he has. Absolutely OP or Broken Heroes - Why do these even exist? These kinds of characters dominate every single fight possible, meaning besides showing off some new moves, you can pretty much predict the end result every time. Is that interesting at all? Isn't it more innovative to see a character struggle to win, overcoming the odds somehow? If every fight is a pub-stomp, it gets repetitive very quickly. There are times however that fights can be interesting, pitting OP Vs. OP for example for a struggle for dominance but generally, most of the opponents will get destroyed. NOTE: This type of character can however, still be a type that I like in certain circumstances. One Punch Man can be a good example, since the show isn't meant to be taken seriously at all. Just because someone is OP or broken, doesn't mean they can't change how they think, the way they interact and even their personality. If this is the case, then it becomes a lot more tolerable. The same as well if a crossover is done or something and that person's power level is just way too much for most of the universe, though the author had better be able to make the story interesting somehow. The Mary Sue - The biggest 'cliche' yet. A Mary Sue is someone who is perfect in pretty much everything they do where others would normally struggle or fail. Not just being powerful, but easy relationships with others, having ridiculous skills, etc. I'm sure I'll get a ton of hate messages for this, but Kirito from SAO is a Mary sue. This is a predictable character who basically gets almost everything handed to them. If however, there is a reason they are a Mary Sue (terrible past making them strive for perfection for example), then this can be ignored. Why do I like Touhou? Most of the characters are easily malleable! I won't deny, the majority of them are just broken characters. But most of them don't have set characters or personalities at all! There's the exception like Reimu or Marisa, but someone like Momiji who doesn't even have a single piece of dialogue? They're fun to write as a result! You can give them almost any backstory possible and still make them interesting even if they're OP with their abilities. There's a character for pretty much anybody to at least somewhat like. I'm probably bias for Touhou so whatever. |
