X, Y, and Z is incorrect from manga/anime! A) That is not a question, but this story IS an alternate universe.

O.o Longest Harry Potter Book is 257,045 words long (Order of the Phoenix). Core Threads has out-done the rest individually.

Maybe I should do something special when its longer than each book individually... and again when longer than them combined?

Things I hate about stories:

Within 2 paragraphs a character goes through love, betrayal, anger, rage, humor... etc. Or they say 8 questions, then someone else answers those in order. It's mostly due to not wanting to write a large interaction between two characters, but it leaves me feeling cheated to see Harry ask "Are you from the future, where are we, why are there turtles in my hair, how long is this boat, why am I made of glass and glowing?" I just CAN'T imagine anyone actually doing that.

Characters go WAY out of character... even based on the OC version you were building. Like an Emo Harry suddenly doing a dance number for no reason.

Fourth/Fifth wall breaking. .

Huge author notes at the beginning and end of chapters, or chapters dedicated to non-story material. Even when I feel I HAVE to include a note, I always get rid of it after publishing the next chapter... you came to read my story, not my thoughts on it. Make a 'Directors Cut' version for that stuff. Slight exception for stories where there are player stats, but even then try to create something compact so that 80% of your story isn't copied and pasted tables of numbers.

Massive power boost given to main character that makes him WEAKER than cannon! Oh, Harry is a Shadow Mage and a Phoenix and stuff... and now he gets his ass kicked by the troll that he handled (No problem) as a starving orphan with no training? Bullshit. Many times this is due to the author being afraid from leaving cannon events (As this drastically increases the difficulty in writing), so they NEED Harry to go back to abusive home central.

Because main character gets a huge boost, bad guys MUST get a huge boost too. WHY!? So it's fine for Voldemort to have money, political power, an army, and relations with magical creatures... but Harry MUST be alone, starving, and have one friend a Ron? And any change REQUIRES Voldemort gain a demon body or memories of the future or magical death ponies or something? Bull-SHIT.

Chapters less than 1.5k words long. Mostly because if I LIKE a story I hate having to click fifty million times. Frankly I feel bad if my chapters are below 4k now, even if I wasn't able to stick to that early on in the story. Some stories have chapters LESS than 300 words! If it is that short, wait a few weeks and combine the chapters together.

No-One-Has-Empathy syndrome. NO one. There is character bashing (Ron is literally useless, causes many troubles in cannon, and is a dick to his best friend MOST of the time) and then there is THIS bullshit, where I have to believe that EVERYONE is feeling no sympathy at ALL for one person. For example, Hermione was being a nosy girl (And in the past she had done something REALLY wrong, like betrayed Harry or whatever). If Harry rips off her arm, or removes her ability to speak or read, or whatever... fine. But SOMEONE should go "Wow that was harsh", even if Harry doesn't. Because it IS harsh, even if deserved. Hell, even Voldemort has Bellatrix as a supporter, but somehow this 13 year old girl is uncared for by ANYONE. I've seen this done for Ron (Meh), Snape (Duh), Ginny (Maybe I guess, depends on if you think she was potioning Harry or not), Molly (Again, potions? Maybe), etc etc. Just remember that even Bartimus Crouch Jr. had Winky who cared for him.

Bad spelling/wording done in a story's Description. Or a description that is "Hey give me reviews" or "I hate this story now" or "This is a story about stuff". This is what we need to pull us into your story, so spend some time to make it accurate... and go back and UPDATE it if your story changes. Core-Threads was not MEANT to be a comedy, it just turned into that at some point due to flaws in my OWN personality.

I enjoy writing, but reading is my passion.

At this point I have read hundreds of stories, most over 200k long on this site, and I try to only favorite those that are so far above the rest that I want to read them again. Sometimes that is due to a concept rather than a story design, but either way I read heavily.

However, every once in a while I feel a gap appears where a story is needed, and I decided to put down in type the concepts of "Core Threads". If I feel that the character stands up through the entire story, I am planning on sending him through other universes as well, as I feel the cross-over stories list is overly full with uncompleted stories and abandoned scripts.

Hopefully I can stay on topic with my story, but it relies heavily on the characters. I tend to allow the beliefs and ideals of the characters to dictate how scenarios occur, and how people interact. As a result, I tend to be just as interested as the reader about where the heck all this story is leading too. I have a general idea and the framework for some cool powers and story plot points, but how these get introduced and when they get used? No idea yet.

If you have time, check the authors I have Favorited or some of these stories. I tend to only select stories that are long, satisfying, and complete. Sadly my list is not complete yet, so I suppose I will have to continue reading this site apart.
