"Oh!" Mila gasped. She hadn't meant to, but the huge, dark eyes knocked the breath from her lungs. "I- um, I-" "Please don't run away," the mermaid pleaded, shifting her upper body in a futile attempt to hide her sleek black tail. It gleamed in the morning sunlight – not the glitter of scales, but smooth and velvet-soft. "Your music. It was beautiful."

Otabek needs to get somewhere in a hurry, and the first part of that somewhere is "out of Moscow as quickly as possible." His plan goes awry when Captain Plisetsky is none-too-pleased with the stowaway discovered in his ship, but a little pre-emptive sabotage goes a long way towards making friends. A steampunk AU.

Adrien has kept his gender alignment secret from everyone except his family since he realized he was trans, but always hated hiding who he was. As he gets closer to his new friends, he begins to trust himself (and them).

Keith didn't believe in souls: they were the promise of a sequel, of an epilogue, that there was something more than here-and-then-gone, that the emptiness of loss was merely holding a space until what was missing could be replaced. Keith finds Shiro, and he finds himself.

Otabek Altin was lucky. He always had been. He was, he reflected (with some bitterness), lucky in the same way that a rabbit foot was lucky – it never did the rabbit any good.

Haircuts had been a simple procedure thus far in Keith's life: every few months, the school nurse or one of the home's sisters would leap out from behind a door, shove him into a chair, and pull a pair of scissors from thin air.
