![]() Author has written 2 stories for Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Warhammer. Name: Abstract Ideas. I've decided to revamp my profile. https : / / d isc ord .g g/z z r nU kZ Visit this discord. You're welcome. Take out the spaces in-between. I'll try and update my stories at least once a month. No promises. School is... interesting. Note: After thinking over it for a while, I've decided to delete a few of my stories and go back to the drawing board. I have a few more ideas anyways to write out that I think would be better. The Worm fic will be deleted because I've just forgotten most of the minor details of Worm in particular, so I've got to review it. The HP fic I'm going to rework. Cheers. Also, I'm going back to my roots within PJO. Got a few ideas with that particular book series. And possibly a few more HP ideas. Fun Fact: The Imperium of Man at its peak, ruled around two-thirds of the Milky Way, meaning that at the very least, the Imperium controlled around sixty-six billion planets at the height of its power. The famous 'Master of a million worlds' only applies if you're talking of the planets that the Imperium cannot, under any circumstances lose. Worlds such as Cadia, Terra, and Mars fall under such a category. This makes the Imperium an empire that trumps almost every single other sci-fi human empire in terms of territory managed. Some people ask why I like Jaune Arc so much, out of everyone else. Why not someone else? The answer is simple. Because Jaune Arc has been more disadvantaged than anyone else in Beacon when it comes to being a Huntsman. Unlike most of the characters, Jaune doesn't have a single thing going for him in terms of connections, combat, or even thinking. Some people say that he has a bit of a tactical mind. Maybe. But tactics don't do anything if you're not fast enough to react to a blade about to cut your head off. Think of it. Ruby has her silver eyes, Yang is literally the daughter of Raven, the Spring Maiden, Blake might as well be the Princess of Menagerie, Weiss is the heiress to the SDC, Pyrrha is the Champion of Mistral, and Ren and Nora both stomp without even trying. Let's contrast this with Jaune, who is still completely terrible at combat, used to fall asleep in Oobleck and Port's class (Which is both entirely understandable, to be honest) and doesn't have a single connection that count propel their various teams into a good position. He has seven sisters. That's it. And that's why I like him. Look, for the same reason why Shirou Emiya isn't my favourite character, or Harry Potter isn't, I don't like the idea of them being special. No, I'm serious. Shirou Emiya would never have been that powerful if he hadn't gazed into Gilgamesh's treasury. Harry Potter would never have been let off so leniently so many times by the teachers if it wasn't for that prophecy. Even RWBY suffers from this, what with Ozpin naturally wanting to keep them under his control due to their various connections and Ruby's eyes. Contrast that with people such as Jaune Arc, and you'll find him lacking in comparison. He doesn't have a powerful artifact at his beck and call. No bloodline that gifts him incredible powers. No natural fighting skill. Nothing. And I like that. Allow me to provide an example of why. Which is more impressive. A man climbing Mount Everest alone and crippled with no preparation, or a man taking a helicopter to the top of Mount Everest, with quite a bit of preparation? Obviously, the man climbing alone, right? At the end of the day, Ruby has her silver eyes and natural combat skill to aid her. At the end of the day, Yang has her fists and one save from Raven. At the end of the day, Weiss is still the heiress of the SDC. At the end of the day, Blake is still the Princess of Menagerie. Jaune? At the end of the day, he's just that. Jaune. And I like that. I like the idea of someone forging their own legend by themselves, using only their own skills. No silver eye failsafe. No fallback combat skills. No connections to lean against. Just him, clinging desperately to the cliff edge of life. Look throughout the legends of history, and you'll notice a bit of a trend. They all had something that made them stronger. A blade of Promised Victory, from King Arthur. Invincible skin by way of Achilles. The son of Zeus, Heracles. Ea, the sword which splits the Heavens from the Earth, Gilgamesh. What I'm interested at the end of the day, isn't a man who clings onto the backs of others and utilizes other artifacts and powers that they all got through inheritance or finding it somewhere. I'm interested in someone who can, by sheer force of will, drag himself into the annals of history and forge themselves a name for themselves. I'm interested in people who have the will to see something to the end, without a powerful bloodline or allies behind him. And Jaune Arc might be able to do it. At the end of the day, Ruby had her eyes to carry her to the end. At the end of the day, Yang had her allies to carry her to the end. At the end of the day, everyone had something to carry them to the end. Jaune? Jaune will have to scale the mountain alone. His partner is dead. His combat skills are abysmal. And if he can climb that mountain without falling, that'll only make me like him more. Opinions: If you're reading this, I am amazed at the sheer waste of time you're going through. -Every character written on fanfiction is an original character. They're just normally hidden beneath the mask of a popular character of another story. -At least those characters can claim to have stolen the life and memories of the old characters. OCs, in most scenarios, have no right to be as powerful as they are. -Self-Inserts, on the other hand, have an advantage. Although it's always a bit of a surprise seeing exactly how much the knowledge can help. Knowledge can do a lot. However, you're only aware of a single timeline, and as we all know, the flaps of the wings of a butterfly can cause a tornado to erupt. So every action you take could inadvertently ruin that knowledge, making all your knowledge completely useless. -Every virtue and sin is a double-edged blade. Pride caused the Great War. And yet pride also landed the first man on the moon. Fear allowed the Nazis to advance far. And yet fear also allowed mankind to innovate like never before in order to survive. Love may be the foundation of a beautiful story, and yet love is also the most common cause of wars and murders. At the end of the day, what you choose to do with your sins and virtues is your choice. Style of Writing: Instead of causing massive changes, such as time travel, completely changing someone's personality, or even creating an AU, I much prefer to write some small insignificant changes in, and watch the cascading ripple effects that result from it. For example. Summer Rose lives. Raven Branwen never leaves. Jaune Arc has a different dream. While they might seem like it barely affects anything, I believe Vronsurd demonstrated well enough in The Shield of Vale exactly how well tiny, unnoticeable actions can cause massive effects. In all honesty, while watching massive changes might not be my personal style of writing, I can still appreciate it. Konstantinsen, for example, excels at writing AUs, demonstrated in Vivat Imperatrix and The Ones Who Are Bound, as does Coeur Al'Aran in Forged Destiny. I still quite like those kinds of stories. I just don't write those kinds of stories. Although I am a massive fan of Space Opera AUs, and tend to write out entire backstories for them on a whim. Part of the reason why I enjoy The Weaver Option and Let The Galaxy Burn by Antony444 so much. Space opera? Yes please. I'm also a massive fan of fluff. I enjoy watching characters shatter into a million pieces, before they're forced to pick up the broken pieces and create a patchwork version of themselves. I also enjoy seeing them happy again, against the odds. As you can tell, I'm a massive fan of bittersweet endings or pyrrhic victories, in which the protagonist does indeed triumph, although the cost is impossible to measure. Happy endings are great and all, but pyrrhic victories? Yup. I'll take some of that. |
