In a twist of fate, the Covenant never encounter the humans on Harvest due to a slipspace malfunction and end up near the Turian colony of Taetrus. Declaring the Turians, as well as the rest of the Citadel races as Heretics, the Covenant invade Citadel space on a campaign of genocide as the Council breaks its most sacred laws and traditions for one single goal: survival.

Is it possible that the galaxy is vast enough that we can get two stories simultaneously running together? How would they react if they discovered each other? Would they seek out each others destruction or would common interests sway them to work together? Only one thing is certain. Whatever happens, someone is not going to agree.

The Human-Covenant War may have ended but the storm has not yet passed. Now the great powers must pick up the pieces and find their place in this new and dangerous galaxy.

When a Forerunner fleet heads to the Sol System attempting to stop what they think may be an attack by an unknown race, they end up finding Citadel forces. The Citadel forces fire on the Forerunner fleet after the Forerunners fail to respond to communications. The Covenant have offered the Citadel help, as payback for the decades of oppression they took from the Forerunners.

An Asari Deep space exploration craft discovers an unknown wreck in space, meanwhile the UNSC Gorgon is sent out on a scouting mission into the lost outer colonies.
