Hello! I'm Preston, and I am both a beta and a writer. When I betaread for someone, I look for grammatical, spelling, and plot errors. I will usually send a copy of the betaread piece back with any suggestions or changes in different colors, leaving it to the authors discretion on what to keep and what to change. I expect to be given at least a day in advance to betaread something, but if the chapter needs to be put out in a hurry, and I have the time, I will be more than happy to oblige. Also, I would ask that the authors take my suggestions to heart, but not offense - just because your chapter comes back marked doesn't mean I think it's terrible. Typically, I can get a chapter back to the author within an hour to four hours, depending on the length.

I am a very strong writer in areas of science, fantasy, theory. I am not exactly a grammarnazi, but grammar is something I excel in. I can make just about anything sound logical and plausible, giving a story scope and believability (which I think helps with the reader's imagination). I can't say that I have a strength or weakness with fight scenes, because I really haven't written very many of them, but I would consider myself passable. One of the things I pride myself with is being able to make a story flow better.

I have a tendency to write things in correct speech. Basically, I don't write slang very well. It's just an integral part of me to write things the way I speak, which is mostly without slang. I have a few issues with over-correction; I like things to be perfect and might suggest a few changes that aren't necessary.
