Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hey, I'm RoyalDanielle, R.D. for short. I'm a girl who adores the English language and does everything she can to uphold it. Therefore, you can expect me to carefully, carefully, CAREFULLY scour your story, top to bottom, and fix all the spelling/grammar mistakes I can find. br /br /br / br /br / br / I also tell the truth. If I hate your story, I tell you. If I love it, prepare for excessive praise. :) I do my best to fix your story, but DO NOT THINK FOR A MINUTE that you can just dump your story on me and make me do all the work. Then we'd just have a terrible argument, and I really don't want that...-sigh- br /br / br / br /br / br / I accept most stories, although don't expect me to be able to beta read a fic about something I haven't read or seen yet. I'm okay with either DocX or emailing. Ya choose-you're the boss. Kidding :)) |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
I've always had a knack for grammar and spelling. I also have a very effective Mary-Sue/Gary Stu radar, so if I find a Sue/Stu in your story, rest assured I'll eliminate it. I am also a very good sounding board for ideas.br /br /br / br /br / br / Plot...hmm. I'm pretty good at plot too, but as aforesaid, I like to have an outline. Nothing too detailed, just a little plan, so that we don't go veering off course.br /br / br / br /br / br / Anyway, those're my strengths. Now, on to the weaknesses! |

WEAKNESSES. Hmm...I do get writer's block occasionally, but it passes.br /br /br / br /br / br / Thing is, high school is coming up pretty soon, and I seriously want to get on the honor roll, so I might get a tad short on time. HOWEVER, I always, always, ALWAYS go online on weekends, so there isn't much problem there. :))br /br / br / br /br / br / And I cannot betaread in a language I cannot read. Sorry :'( So if you want me to betaread an...I don't know, a Chinese fic or whatever...I'm sorry, I can't. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
The fandoms of Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and 39 Clues are the fandoms I frequent the most, so I do indeed prefer those over others. The only genre I don't do is horror. I'm all right with the others. Romance is very much appreciated...unless I hate the pairing. :)) |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
I hate insipid Mary Sue tales. I really do. Swearing...well, I guess I can tolerate it, but...whatever. I don't do Twilight, or any other book/movie that I haven't read or seen. I also CANNOT stomach an overly cheesy, lovey-dovey, fluff-choked story. I normally love romance, but too much is too much. Ya get me? :))br /br /br / br /br / br / And I really hate those writers who burst into tears when I say, "Work on grammar/spelling/punctuation/plot." Deal with it.
