Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
I am a fanfic writer and anime nerd who enjoys lots of things besides anime. I have been here for four years, and over the years, have become quite well-known. I have also grown up, so my tastes have changed, the stories I like have changed. It's to be expected. However, the one thing that will not change is my love of writing. I enjoy writing, since it's a good outlet for my problems, but it's so much more than words on a screen. br /br /br /br /br /br /br / |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
The areas I excel at would be in grammar and spelling. I hardly ever misspell words and have very good grammar. Also, I have a pretty good grasp of dialogue and seeing how characters interact and am able to describe them pretty well. I also am very observant, and write about pretty much anything. I am good at describing characters' motivations and the plot. |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sometimes I make chapters too short or too long. Often, I skip scenes that I think aren't important, or I fail to develop a plot point that happened earlier in the story. Some of my original characters seem a little shallow and hackneyed, so I have to work at that and make them realistic characters. Some of them may be Mary-sueish, depending on how you look at it. br /br /br /br /br /br /br / |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I like a lot of stories. Alternate universe or crossover fanfiction are my favorites to read and/or write. I like throwing the characters into a different situation or change things a little and see how they react to it. It's neat to write stuff like that. I am also into satire and fantasy, so I also toss in random bits of humor in even my most serious stories. I would like doing some AU stories, some crossovers (as long as I know both series and the characters well.) I am also good with OC reincarnation stories, my mood towards OCs has changed considerably. I do not like to really bash characters unless there is some purpose to it. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
It depends. The stories I would probably avoid would be those that had Mary-sues for protagonists, had horrible spelling and grammar, and or made no sense. If the story's incomprehensible...I avoid it. Sometimes, I don't like things writers do in their stories, so I go and write my own version of it. It do not do nsfw or smut under any circumstances, nor pairings that are underage, incestuous or have rape in them and graphic sex. I am not very good at romance stories. Also, I don't do vampire stories because I have very little interest in them. Anything else is fair game, pretty much. |
