Beta Bio: general description as a beta reader
Hi! I'm new to this, not entirely understanding Beta reading yet... I'm guessing it's like editing? Well, basically, if you need help & you ask me, I'd be more than happy to help. I don't have any strong preferences or dislikes for stories & their styles, I mean, anything written can be interesting, right? Everybody has great ideas, no matter if they're not good at spelling or grammar. I don't claim to be an amazing writer - or Beta, hey, I'm just new! - but I am obsessive about spelling and grammar, so I can help there. I won't critisize; I know how it feels to have that happen, but I will be honest - in a nice way - because I'm sure there won't be anything to critisize! |
My Strengths: beta, writing, or reading strengths
Spelling. Spelling is my main strength. How ridiculous would it be if I made a mistake here, in my strengths? Hah! I'm also good at grammar, and though I forget it in my own writing, I'm good at finding places for imagery and good descriptions. I'm good at being friendly, if that helps? |
My Weaknesses: beta, writing, or reading weaknesses
Sentense structure, is a weakness, I tend to write as though I'm talking, or as though the reader knows what I'm on about, when there's no way they possibly could. Descriptions; not that I can't do them, I just sometimes forget to put them in my own work. |
Preferred: types of stories I prefer over others
I honestly don't mind. Well, okay, I like mythological and fantasy stories best, and if not that, romance or mystery, or hurt/comfort types. Generally, of books I've read, but if I've not read them, it's not that story I'm reading, it's yours, right? So I guess it doesn't matter, and if it does, but the idea interests me, I can always Google it. |
Would Rather Not: I do not beta for these stories
War, or fighting. Also, these new 'miserable lives' style books that are out. I don't really want to read 'My Sister's Keeper', or 'The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas'. Also, those murder mysteries/crime books. Or classics. |
