The approach to betareading I take usually consists of reading the material aloud, and if it takes me more than twice to try and read a statement it will send up the red flags in my brain. I tend to be honest, brutally so, because there's no point in telling someone they're doing perfect when there are still problems. No one can learn from their mistakes being kept from them. They need to know the areas they should work on or else improvement won't take /

So, naturally, if you don't wish to be told each and every little mistake (which, honestly, I would!) then I'm not the betareader for you. However, if that is what you want, I'm your girl! My only "rule" is don't retaliate rudely if I think there is a problem. I appreciate calm explanations, but not flaming rants.

I'm very good with dialogue and general grammar, but spelling is definitely my strongest point.

I could use some work on fighting scenes. I can't write them to save my life, and I have trouble imagining them in my head while reading them. I also rely on dialogue in most of my stories, with little inner monologue unless I force it. So I tend to skip around a little in huge monologue sections, which may cause me to miss things, whether pertaining to the story itself or just mistakes grammatically.

Stories with a little less fighting and more character-to-character relationship developing appeal to me a little more than others. However, I'm willing to read almost whatever you can throw at me!

I don't want to spend too much time reading smut. Aheh. If the story is pure smut, I would prefer not to read it. If it has a developed storyline and there just happens to be sex scene, so be it. I'm okay with that. But if it's yaoi and the characters are not actually gay, I DO NOT APPROVE! /

Another type of story that bugs me are the completely AU. Especially when there's a million OCs chucked in there. The main character falling love with an OC is pretty annoying to. Some examples are:br /

-Protagonist is thrown into RL with no idea where he/she isbr /

-OC comes in out of nowhere and is better than the protagonist at everythingbr /

br /

-OC has no purpose except to fall in love with protagonistbr /

br /

-Antagonist suddenly befriends the protagonist and they cease to try and murder each otherbr /

br /

So basically, if the story cannot be canon with the series I don't want to betaread it, because I probably wouldn't read it anyways.
