I'm a beta-reader, but on top of that I'm a human. I'm not afraid to offer you my opinions not only for basic grammatical and canonical errors, but also for character and plot. These two being the element which are incredibly important to any work, but fanfiction in particular. I won't throw all of your errors in your face, a practice which seems to be common amongst numerous betas and editors, and I always make a point to comment on all of the good things that are present, as well as the bad.

Grammar, spelling and character. If there's a problem with either of the first two, I guarantee I'll see it. As for the third, I find that character is incredibly important to any good story, and I always keep an eye out for instances in which someone is acting out of it. (For this reason, I prefer to beta the categories with which I'm familiar, although I'm not unwilling to take unfamiliar pieces.)

As much as I would like to say I have - which would be lying - I have not seen every movie in the world, read every book, sat through every series or played every video game. If I do not know your topic, I can offer you advice for writing only.

Any genre. Any pairing. Any topic - but if you want optimum results you should try me with a topic I've listed as being one I'm familiar with. I won't say "no" to something, but as a precursor, you should know to go to someone who is familiar with it.

Not my cup of tea? I don't drink tea, so it's all in my bag. I've beta'd independently for several people, and I think I've seen it all. Graphic violence, sex, explicit swearing, AU's, crazy pairings, Mary-Sue's, Casting Calls, self-inserts - you name it, I've done it, and I'm willing to do it all again.
