As a beta-reader, I carefully analyze each and every chapter in several different aspects. I do focus on grammar, spelling, and anything technical (such as writing flow or word choice). I'm adept at technicality but I'm not a complete Grammar Nazi. Also, similar to my Fictionpress reviewing, I will consider: plot, characterization, dialogue, relationships, and overall feeling as a reader. I don't have that many expectations; I'm a relaxed type of person. As long as the writer maintains a mature relationship with me, I will be more than happy to help.

I love to analyze characterization. In fact, characterization is something I'm best at looking for in all my reviews. In conjunction with characterization, I also analyze the relationships between characters well if they are important and can make suggestions regarding that. I also enjoy looking at plot development and progression - whether or not the plot is moving too slow or too fast. I'm also pretty good at adding descriptions and setting an ambience into the story (after months of working on that problem for my writing).

I am good at spotting very obvious technical issues. However, some finer technicalities in writing sometimes fly past me (but this isn't enough to impair understanding). Dialogue is also a weak point for me in writing; sometimes I write really stiff dialogue. Furthermore, I tend to flucuate from being too overtly critical to being too nice. This is based on the writer of the story I'm reading; my best betareading occurs when I feel comfortable being critical or finicky with what I see presented.

I've written in fantasy, supernatural, mystery, and romance. But I'm a pretty open reader - I really don't have any preference.

Since I'm an open reader, I'm fine with betareading any story but there are some types where I'm more selective. Yaoi and lemon-filled stories require some plot and sustenance for me to consider them. And I love humor but it's more difficult for me to critique (since it's not my expertise).
