My aim as a betareader is to help you improve as a writer. As a result, whenever I am beta-ing something, I will point out things that could use work while, the same time, try to point out what I see as strengths. My expectations for people who would like me to beta for them are multi-fold. 1) Please read and understand the sorts of fics I will not beta. If I do not want to beta your fic, it has nothing to do with you personally, it just means that I do not feel that you would benefit from my services. 2) When I make a suggestion, I do not care to listen to excuses. There is a difference between trying to make sure I understand your meaning and just coming up with excuses to save face. I am not attacking you personally, so there is no need for you to be defensive. 3) Only send me completed chapters.

Assuming it is a series I am familiar with, I am good at keeping characters in character. As such, if you know your story contains characters being too OOC and you want them that way, don't bother to have me beta them. If OOC characters is a weakness though, I would be happy to help. Also, I have a good sense of the artistic. I am very knowledgeable about grammar, but I understand that there are times when it must be sacrificed for the emotional impact. As a beta, I try to always keep in mind the mood of the story to understand of, for example, that fragment deserves to remain uncorrected.

I have a difficult time knowing what to make of poems, song fics, or fics with original characters. I can attempt to take a look, but my feed back might not be as tailored as those are the kinds of fics with which I do not have much experience.

Slash fiction is definitely my preferred cup of tea. Most of all, fiction for series with which I am familiar would be most appreciated!

Stories in which OCs hook up with canon characters is pretty much forbidden with me. All other types of stories and pairings, just ask me and I'll let you know.
