As a beta-reader, I tend to be more focused on grammar, spelling, and other liguistics rather than other aspects of story writing. Although I realize that character and plot development are vital, I don't patronize much of these as I believe that every writer is different; stories develop at different speeds, depending on the writer. It would be wrong to try and mold every writer to one specific rubric, right?

I must make a note, though, that I do have an inclination to spelling certain words the "British" way rather than the "American" way. For example, colour will always be spelled with a u for me, and I'll always spell armour "armour", because armor looks misspelled. I'm trying to break that habit (it's causing its own small bit of chaos in my limited span of life), but what bad habit breaks easily, eh?

Identifying spelling and grammar errors. I'm not perfect, but I can surely try.

Story development in general. I won't hound the writer of a story I'm beta-reading for more character development, or at least not more than is necessary.

Intriguing, descriptive yaoi. Stories in which the author makes the characters their own, not necessarily keeping their exact personality the way it is as seen (for example, Naruto doesn't always have to be loud and obnoxious, and Roxas doesn't always have to be paired with Axel...). Or stories that simply have a new concept. Something interesting and T-M rated. I prefer Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon, Naruto, Wolf's Rain, Fruits Basket, and Bleach, but I'll read anything I'm not expected to already know each character's personality traits.

Fluffy, K+ rated things. They all seem too, well, fluffy to me. Not realistic enough, or at least not to me.
