Awww Cecilia... she’s been through so much :c Again the little details come in showing how he cares, too, like the journal having her favorite purple and him understanding her love of calligraphy. It’s a shame about forces beyond them keeping them apart. Wouldn’t surprise me if it were an interruption on behalf of one or both fathers as they did in the garden scene, which was so lovely. Whatever was implied happened to her... it makes me sad ;c This seems like a difficult place to move on from. If you ever decide to continue in the future (or rewrite), I know I will be grateful. As for now, just, eh, thanks so much for putting this out there!

OK, I know you think it's bad, but I'm really enjoying it because of how well you've done with the characters! And, like I said, most fics of this pairing have the same exact plot so it's nice to jump right into Duelist Kingdom. Her being related to Pegasus doesn't make anything easier for her; instead, it actively causes problems and also is a great tool for kickstarting the plot.

Pegasus, too, is a hard character to get right, but you do him great! At the beginning, he comes off as a normal guy but you still get that sense that something isn't right. He doesn't treat her like a true daughter. It's more like he sees her as a tool. That idea evolves as the chapters go on and is even ingrained in the flashback here. However, you can see the seeds of guilt inside showing he's a good guy wayyy deep down, just like his portrayal in the show.

Seto is another one tough to get right in these, and again, I think you've done well with him. His priority never stops being Mokuba, even when he reunites with Cecilia. His snark never stops (the greatest tbh). The little things shows he's always cared, like the memory of the mint coffee and him never letting that go. I like that he hesitates to help when he's around all the people he knows, but once he sees that she's in real trouble, he rushes.

ANYWAY, those are just a few of the gems I've liked so far... thanks for sharing this!
