This is exactly how I would imagine the conversation about Sherlock's time in Serbia would go. Their reactions and manner of speaking are so true to character. I also love the way you added in John questioning Sherlock's being "out of the picture in 6 months"-I've never seen that done before!

This is absolutely beautiful! I especially loved this quote: "Friends protect each other, Sherlock. Heroes sacrifice themselves for others. You said before you're not a hero, so stop playing hero on your own, and be my friend." I think you captured their beautiful friendship perfectly. I adored this story. Your writng style is really capturing and you portrayed John and Sherlock extremelly well; the dialogues were so IC that as far as I know you could be Moffat or Gatiss hiding behind a fanwriter to trick the fandom :)
I totally agree with your point of view: John is blind, clueless and the last bit of HLV showed that he is close to ingratitude too. Yes, he doesn't know that Sherlock accepted a suicide mission as a punishment for having killed Magnussen, he doesn't know that he decided not to tell him the truth because he wanted to spare him more suffering, but that is the only extenuating circumstance I can accord to him right now. He perfectly knows that Sherlock has been away for two years to protect him and his other friends, but he hasn't bothered to try to know more about this. He doesn't know about the torture, he didn't enquire enough about his relapse to drugs, he heard Magnussen saying that John was Sherlock's pressure point while Sherlock wasn't John's but he didn't feel the need to say something about that, to reassure his friend that in fact he did matter to him. Sherlock has played the best man's role perfectly with the only purpose to make John happy, and after that at the start of HLV John says that he hasn't seen Sherlock in a month! He killed Magnussen although John's life wasn't in danger, the only thing that was at risk was his happiness, but yet Sherlock choose to guarantee his friend the best life he can hope for even though it meant giving up anything and anyone he cared for... again. And the best John has done for him is shaking his hand, not seeming almost upset at all by his friend's departure? This is completely unfair, and it makes my heart ache any time I think about it. I loved your story and the way you described their feelings: would you consider to write more about this topic? Maybe a longer fiction? Your work was amazing, it would be really lovely to have more!
