I like that Hanji has they/them pronouns. I have several friends who are non-binary so seeing a character who is as well makes me feel good.

I was bothered by "they" throughout the story but I replaced it with "she" in my own head. It only bothered me because I couldn't tell whether you were talking about the group of kids or Hanji at times. I tended to go back to the 1st part of the sentence a lot if it involved her.
Other than that, very cute and that's cool that you wanna be a writer some day :)
