I was absolutely thrilled to learn a new chapter had been posted. This is one of my all-time favorite stories on this site, along with its predecessor. Everything rings true and is top-notch. All the buildup of the previous chapters looks to be roaring toward the finish line like a freight train.

So many wonderful details I want to comment on. I like how Bruce appealed to Lucius with Harvey's, ahem, legalizing the machine, along with Harvey's disconcertment at the breadth of technology Bruce has access to. In a lot of ways, I think Harvey is realizing what a thin line Batman skates, and I like how it may foreshadow his own downfall, because both men push the limits and cross the line in their pursuits of justice.

I'm wondering what can of worms the trio has opened by granting Maroni immunity. Something tells me it's going to backfire on them.

Going back to Harvey's potential downfall, I'm glad he took the initiative and teamed with Stephens. I'm tired of the Joker's continual rampages. It's about time someone did what needed to be done and should have been done long ago. Never understood why Batman saved him in TDK, when he was fine to let Ra's die in BB. I do hope the Joker is truly dead and no effort will be made to save his life. That said, I'm curious if ordering the Joker's death will be the catalyst that drives Harvey fully into the Two-Face persona.

I-You updated... That. Wow. Thank you. Um. Just reread all of this mess and damn... The duality of Gotham is making itself known. Funny thing is. As I reread this, I realized that I'd changed opinions on the morality of some stuff. It's so incredible because I remember condoning things that I right now would be very uncomfortable with, like the use of the machine that Lucius Fox built, among others of course... All in all, Stephens and Harvey plotted and schemed the death of the Joker and this. This is actually not such a good idea. The playboy persona has paid of and most people wouldn't easily believe Bruce is Batman. I think they should have let him be thrown in jail and dealt with it the legal way if Joker named Bruce. It wouldn't be that hard, if you considered Joker insane. But if Harvey didn't do that(like he mentioned) he could just figure out a way to permanently isolate the Joker to make sure he never tells... It wouldn't be the perfect system but is killing the Joker any better? Because this really could tip Harvey's psyche closer to the Two-Face that walks on the wrong side of the law...

What a surprise! I was glad to have a new chapter to read. I’ve reread this story so many times, just dying to know what happens next. As soon as Gordon and Harvey found out about Bruce being Batman, and you gave us a taste of them all working together— the story stopped and I wasn’t sure if there would ever be more.

I look forward to the moments between Bruce/Batman, Harvey, and Gordon. I like the dynamic you created between them.

This chapter was very fast-paced. I wasn’t expecting so much to happen in just one chapter. I wouldn’t have minded if you had expanded on certain scenes a little more, but I still liked it. This chapter felt different than past chapters, and I think it was because of how fast-paced it was.

I did enjoy the new chapter to this wonderful story! I really do love the friendship/partnerships you’ve created between the three. Harvey went from not having any respect for Bruce to becoming very protective of him. I can’t imagine Bruce or Gordon will be happy if they find out that Harvey may have plotted behind their backs, but Harvey cares for his friend and the man he considers a hero. Harvey is such a great and complex character with a tragic end, I hope to see him get a happier ending in your story, haha. But we’ll see, I hope, soon.

Poor Batman against those dogs. In some comics, he does have a dog named Ace, haha, so I don’t think he hates all dogs. In most cases I blame the dog owners for a dog’s behavior, but Batman is in the right protecting himself against the threat the dogs pose to him. It’s just a shame those dogs were trained to be so hostile. The idea of Batman sitting and watching “Old Yeller” and crying though, that made me giggle.

It’s interesting how in your version, Batman doesn’t run away and take the blame. In this story he is seen as Gordon’s partner. Batman is taking in a criminal alongside the police, which gives a very different impression and makes a statement. I like that. As beautiful as the ending was to “The Dark Knight,” I do wish it didn’t lead into Bruce holing himself inside his home for eight years. He wasn’t Batman for very long. I wonder what your take would be on the third movie, with all the changes you’ve made to the second film.

I look forward to more. I’ve been following this story for years now! I hope to see more Bruce/Batman, Harvey, and Gordon interactions in upcoming chapters. Keep up the good work! I hope you’re doing well and have more time for writing in the future!

I don't know how likely it is that you'll update this, but it's brilliant! I love their slow realisations of who Bruce is, and the way Harvey tried to get it out of him before Gordon stepped in.

Hey, I wanted to say that this has been/is/and probably always will be my favorite Batman fanfic I have ever read. I know it's been 3 years, but I'm hoping you'll continue at some point because it really is just so beautiful. Anyway, I'm just a crazy big Batman fan and this is so freakin beautiful I figured I owed it to you to at least tell you that. So even if you never do finish it, that's for writing it this far. But I really hope you do come back to it at some point.

Agree with the two comments below. Already LOVE what's here, I've reread it so many times over the past 6 years, still fun every single time since it reads just like how the movie would play out , and leaves off at a feel good moment with the team of... four. Remains my favorite fic of all time.

What you have here is just fantastic, though I would be elated if you ever updated this story. The tone, pacing, and intrigue is so well-suited to the trilogy, and I love how you write the dynamics between the different characters. I've really enjoyed being able to see Bruce, Gordon, and Harvey working together and having their secrets and rough edges snag against each other's. Great work!
