A interesting story. It shows how much Vlad changed as a person after the creation of Dan. Vlad shows a good amount of regret and respect for Danny and his not going to let someone like Dan spoil the young boys memory. Well done.

I think Vlad beig alive was a blessing in disguise, he may not have anything anymore but just think if Dan has wasted him right then and there then he wouldnt have help the "Little badger" he knows help him restore everything.

Including his dignity.

I think this is a very interesting take on TUE, especially since most stories never really dwell on Vlad's perspective. After all, he was there to witness it all, and I can see Dan coming back to taunt. Leaving Vlad alive so he can watch all the horror and devastation caused by that one decision does seem like something Dan would do. And Vlad, before all this, and Vlad knows it too.
I like how even though Vlad is broken, he still has a little bit of pride left, even if it is mostly for Danny. My favorite part was when Vlad stood up to Dan, telling him that he would never replace Danny. While Vlad might have not had any dignity for himself, he still had some for Danny. Anyway, great story. Maybe you could do a follow-up about when he meets Danny from the past.
