Mkay i LOVE the little parallel between Luffy defending Chopper's flag and burning down the WG's. My geeky little literature-obsessed heart is always over the moon at moments with that kind of symbolic and thematic significance.
And it's such a great understanding of Luffy too? The contradictions and how well they work together: "chaos and clarity... wears despair down into hope, strips impossibility down to fact... a straight line in a world drowning in curves" asdf;lsj;laslkdj
possibly my FAVORITE description of Luffy ever, he comes across as simple and he IS simple in some ways but that has nothing to do with his relative intelligence or understanding of the world, he just sees what is and what he wants to be and makes things happen and i love him so much aaaaaaaaaaaah

this sentence will stay with me for a long time, it's heart-warming to this the faith the crew have in luffy and how proud they are when they can show it to the world.
