One of the important drawbacks of Zutara is that Katara often "steals" all the dramatic moments I ? you know, the Fire Sages usually choose and bless the future Fire Lord. And she's just a young woman and his friend and almost his lover, and that's fine, but why was she putting a crown on him? Seriously, she's too young and I don't think from the point of view of the ceremony she is entitled to it.
On the other hand, there is an old air nomad! What if Zuko had given him the right to decide whether or not to bless his future reign? He can be called an elder or even a sage. He is also an air nomad. His actions, his relationship with the Prince, and his decision would determine the future of the two nations.
And both Lobsang and Zuko do not interact in any way in this fan fiction. This is sad, because I don't feel the same emotions that Zuko has throughout history. It's just like, " Oh, another person that my family has done a lot of wrong to." So sad to see that.

We did get to see the lightning redirection. The obvious one is when Zuko confronts Ozai on the day of the black sun. Ozai launches a bolt at Zuko, who in turn fires it back at Ozais feet (this is how he can describe to Aang how it feels while training him). The second is more of a widely accepted fan theory with decent evidence. When Azula fires a bolt at Katara and Zuko steps in front of it he actually partially redirects it. Its my theory that even though redirection is a waterbending move, to do it properly and safely you need to have a set stance: like an earthbender. Since Zuko doesn't have this horse stance his redirection is skewed and half completed. This is how he didnt die from the lightning. Katara, even though shes incredibly powerful, probably isnt able to use bloodbending to heal him (a second fan theory). With sozins comet high in the sky it would be improbable- especially if she a) hasent been practicing and b) if she can only bloodbend reliably at night and on a full moon (until she practices). Zuko would have had to alleviate some of the lightning or he would have died. Anyways... I personally would love to see some more of the lightning redirection in AtLA. Its totally BA.

Thank you. Simply THANK YOU for writing this severely underrated gem that I am saddened that I didn't find earlier. I normally can't stand first person ficts but you are exceptionally talented with how you get into the mind of a character and their outlook on the narrative that had me rebuking my previous opinions on the matter.

This whole day, I spent reading this masterwork from start to finish and it is now nearly 3 in the morning and I couldn't sleep til I finished it and it was fucking worth it! Your settings, wordplay and gawd, I love your formatting and don't even get me started on your incredible knack for humor! So many lines in this fict had me literally loudly gaffawing! That never happens but it just showcases your talent as a writer in how how you embody these wonderful characters with such snark and wit - you just had me rolling. Wonderful job!

The romance too! Zutara will always be the ship that should have been and the way you set this up was so natural and built beautifully til the moment of the agni kai where I was in tears at Katara's confession. You are an incredible writer and the way you showcase your work is nothing short of masterful. Thank you for this beautiful fanfiction and I can't wait to indulge myself to read it again! God Bless!

Man I forgot how good you made this and the last chapter. I remember reading this a while back so I remembered this was going to happen but I forgot how well written this sad chapter pair was. I’m definitely going to reread this one again and again. SUCH a good story. My writing and ideas will never be this good.

I may have commented this before, but i'm on my 4th re-read of this and it still is my absolute favorite story to come back to. It's gritty and raw and while I love the original, this story appeals so much more to how I see this story and how I imagine it would have been had it not been on a kids network. It expands the scope of ATLA in a way that feels so appropriate and I just love it. Thank you for taking the time to write and share this, it really is something magnificent.

Thank god! I am so tired of skipping through sex scenes and missing the dialogue sprinkled in there. I LIKE the hints and the implied shit. We get that they slept together, but we don't need a play by play on how it went.
