Reviews for Love is not Sight nor Sound
Sheeva1331 chapter 1 . 9/18/2015
This was actually really sweet, it made me cry. I felt like I could relate, being hard-of-hearing since birth. People that take the time to learn sign-language just for someone else... they're worth keeping.
RikuMewKira chapter 1 . 3/7/2015
I know this isn't meant to be a sad story, but I'm crying. It is so beautiful. Thank you for a marvelous story.
My body is falling apart and I was told by my own optometrist that I have the beginning of what may be the end of my sight. As it is I can hardly see 6 inches away and feel pain in every step I take.
You take something that-for me-is misery and turn it into something so glamorous. Thank you for this beautiful, uplifting story.
DKReborn chapter 1 . 10/27/2014

Star-Shaped-X chapter 1 . 4/30/2014
Ah, the first section of this definitely drew me in. You handle their characterization well despite the obvious changes, and you did a great job of portraying the disabilities accurately. :) (Or at least, they seem accurate to me—I don't have either nor know anyone who does.) And the problem with having an uneven gender ratio at a het speed dating place is something I'm surprised has never crossed my mind. I wonder if it's something that happens often? Axel and Roxas adapted to it well though. And no corny romance in your intro at all—to be honest, I almost forgot I was reading an AkuRoku fic and expected this to be a friendship thing. I really wouldn't have minded—the way they met would have been a creative scenario for a non-romantic piece. Though of course, I like this too. :)

Man, I think it would be really hard learning sign language. I can't imagine doing it blind. Heck, I'm amazed at Roxas's resolve for simply trying ('A Friend's Resolve,' heh). And despite what Roxas thinks, I'm impressed at how he's able to express himself after only a couple sessions.

I like that you had them remain friends for a year before making a move, and also that they were close enough platonically for Axel to consider them at the love stage from the get-go of that. And again, it wasn't corny at all. :D Sweet, but not corny. This is definitely my type of romance.

Haha, damn, that would be a little awkward to go through all the effort to learn a language and not really need it anymore huh? But I'm sure Roxas doesn't resent Axel for wanting to hear.

I like that you chose Peter Pan as the bedtime story referenced. It reminds me of the scene in Days when Roxas gets Axel to fly. XD

I fucking love Roxas's mom's reaction to him being gay. XD Not only because it's nice to read a fic where it's not a you're-dead-to-us result, but also just because she's flippin' hilarious. I don't think a smile left my face the entire time she talked.

Wow. Taking the time to count someone's freckles . . . that's true love right there. XD

And that proposal. Perfect timing. I love it.

It's amazing how much someone will worry about being good at sex, but then how much it doesn't matter if you're in love. I used to always think that sort of thinking was just Hollywood romance nonsense, but it really is true.

"Jesus, Axel, you could put an eye out with these things." Man, I seriously laughed at that. XD Like, major laughed. Had a snort and everything. That was awesome. And wow, their entire conversation afterwards. I gotta admit, I was going through this story thinking, "Is there really gonna be a lemon in this? The summary says there is but I'm just not getting that vibe. It's too sweet. Little to no sexual tension. Heck, most of the fic could pass for a K-rating." But man, when you got to dirty talk, you got to dirty talk. And it still managed to keep the sweet overtone of the fic too. Good job with that. :)

And the writing on Axel's ring. Great title drop and great idea. This was a really awesome story. Your writing is excellent and you obviously put a lot of thought into every detail. I'm sure this Brooke will love her birthday gift. You definitely stood and delivered, that's for sure.
