Saissa chapter 1 . 10/24/2017
I just checked the original list of 40 students (actually 36 names and several names unreadable) and this author is correct. Fay Dunbars name was not listed. A great start!
Teufel1987 chapter 7 . 8/24/2017
Bringing up Sirius like that just wasn't right. And the way it was bought up was so inaccurate as well!

Hermione and Dumbledore seem to have forgotten that Harry had listened to Hermione and had gone through some extraordinary lengths to confirm that it wasn't a trap before rushing to the rescue.
Or was the ordeal at Umbridge's office a figment of their imagination?
He even tried to tell Snape of all people!

That was ... quite low of both of them.

On top of that, Dumbledore is risking the lives of every single student in the school to try and redeem one person who so far hasn't had any qualms about seeing others in pain.
Nice Egan chapter 27 . 8/17/2017
I'm really happy that you wrote this story, I'm only sad that it ended. I was avoiding reading this chapter because I knew that I would feel en emptiness after. And here I as I read it I feel now some sadness. You might call me dramatic...I won't deny it.
I really liked the way you wrote this final chapter and glad that it was an open ending, that let us imagine what will happen next.
I loved that Fay left him a clue on that book, it was very smart and witty. I loved that Hermione learned how to understand her. Just like in the books, I think Hermione is truly Harry's best friend. I hope Harry gets to a safe place and that he can learn a lot from Tonks, like it should have happened in the books. At least that's how I feel about it.
I'm glad that Harry and Fay shared that hug, which helped him in understanding his own feelings and realize that Ginny was in the past. I loved how Luna replied to Ginny, she's always quite brilliant.
I think the minister moment with Harry was also very well done, and a part of me wished that Harry would accept the offer just to see what would have happened.
Overall, what I loved most about your story is how faithful you were to Harry's true character. It's refreshing, because it makes me feel almost like I'm reading from another version of cannon.
Again, if you wish to surprise us readers with a sequel...D thank you very much for writing this fanfiction, it's one of my favourites.

Nice
LucyLuna chapter 1 . 8/3/2017
So… She's a witch-Sherlock Holmes? She certainly feels like one, anyway. I liked how Harry got a little bent out of shape when Fay said that she thought Ginny was lying about something to Dean. Fay admitting to getting into quite a bit of trouble with the Slytherins was interesting too. I hope we'll get to see some issues with them come up as this fic continues.
nokeyunderscore chapter 21 . 8/2/2017
I like the story except you made a mistake in the room of requirement. While spells can be deflected with shields spells don't deflect off each other so Fay shouldn't of been hurt...
vuarapuung chapter 27 . 7/30/2017
Great story, kept me reading right through and sorry to see there's no more.
Renata MM chapter 27 . 7/27/2017
I hope that some day you will wrote more in this amazing story. I'm sure will miss it - the only real story with Fay Dunbar that I found.

It was brilliant the way that you made the characters to be life like complex, be it Harry or an extra that had little 'scene time' - like Jimmy Peaks in this chapter.

Thank you very much for writing this jewel.
Tarpeia chapter 27 . 7/27/2017
What an incredible chapter! One of the first things I like about it is that Harry's conflict with Hermione is over, and she has been able to take a constructive approach to the criticism she has received and also accept Ron's feelings for Demelza. She sticks with Harry during his altercation with Ron and stays loyal to the end. Not only that, but she doesn't give up on her plans of improving the house-elves' lives either, taking the time to properly research them as a species and to come up with reasonable solutions.

It's nice to see Ron so happy and at ease with the younger trio. In fact, this is perhaps the best way for him to 'grow up': so long as he stays only in Harry and Hermione's company-and both of them are more mature than he is-he has no significant responsibility or a chance to fulfil himself. Jimmy's infatuation with Hermione is adorable. :)

Ah, Vittoria! I don't blame Blaise for feeling uncomfortable. I wonder if she ever tires of being constantly stared at. :) And Snape must really look like a ghoul next to her-that was a really funny passage.

The scene with Scrimgeour was dramatic in a much different, serious and emotional way; you have shown him as a cunning politician who is aware of all the weapons he owns and is not afraid of using them. And yet, despite his unethical methods (such as drugging Harry and emotionally blackmailing him after telling him devastating news), he doesn't try to force Harry into a cooperation, leaving him a choice. It's clear that he is definitely not one of the worst types of politicians there are. It's touching to see Harry look up to Phineas as his last link to Sirius-the only parent he ever knew. Unfortunately, Phineas is not Sirius; he is cold, sarcastic and rather dismissive of Gryffindors (showing admiration for his heir Arcturus instead). Minerva... means well, yet she has been passive one time too many. Harry is right: she can't help him. Not any more.

It's heartwarming to see Harry and Fay realise the depth of their feelings for each other. It's at the most difficult moments that relationships are tested, and like Hermione, Fay is loyal. She and Harry understand each other on a whole different level; they feel right together. It's very different from the way Ginny treats Harry-she saw him as her possession and became furious when that 'possession' slipped away. And despite his attraction for her, Harry comprehends this much too. When in pain, it's Fay he sought out, not Ginny. I was not at all sorry to see Weaslette throw a tantrum. :) Poor Dean, though-he is a very decent boy who was used by her for a time, and then he got close to Fay, who also liked Harry. He deserves a nice girl who'd appreciate him. Hmm... Lavender? :)

Speaking of Lavender, Hermione has a point: she'd better get her Potions and Herbology up to a scratch. Then again, if she helps run a beauty business, she can always work on the marketing & design side of things if the herbs and potions aren't her strong side.

Spotty was a bit too enthusiastic in his attack... A few lessons can't have made Harry a match. But that, in itself, is a good lesson. I like how your Tonks is much more active and fun than she is in canon. You do her justice, and you also give her a worthy love interest, which is great (their flirting makes me blush!). She explains Harry's situation to him in a clear and rational manner, and you can see she *is* Andromeda's daughter. She understands how things work and has a good insight.

It's sad to see this is the last chapter. But you've done well to keep the ending open. In a way, I love that the story will never end. :) Bravo!
Nice Egan chapter 26 . 7/3/2017
Oh, I was expecting that but not so soon. I mean, after Dumbledore told Harry that he would teach him, I expected that to be the last time that they would see each other. Its a pity really. I liked how in your story. Dumbledore explained the all Horcruxes better to Harry. I liked how you mixed Angelina in the middle as an important character.
I agree that Narcissa is very smart. It's a pity that in the books she hadn't the opportunity to show it. That's why I love fanfiction, you can always read better versions of the story, I mean if that its possible...obviously.
I don't really know what to say about Snape. I understand but like in the books, I don't agree in the way most fans worship him. I understand the importance of his character and everything, of course but.
Oh well, I can't wait to read the next chapter and I'm sorry it took me so long to read.
Xxx

Poor Hermione, some harsh reality was given to her...but I see that it was necessary.
Its sad that so many students are leaving Hogwarts...
Nice Egan chapter 23 . 7/3/2017
I'm sorry for being so late in my reading!
I can't believe what happened! A student died, I mean I can believe it but...
Oh, I almost pity Snape for the vow with Narcissa, but now i'm curious to know how he will get out of that boot.
I don't know why, but I really don't like seeing Harry paired with Ginny. I make the effort, but even in Canon it does not make sense to me.
amazing chapter!
Tarpeia chapter 26 . 6/24/2017
I would call this chapter darkly beautiful. It is very well-written, and both scenes are highly atmospheric.

Harry has indeed become more perceptive, more difficult to control. I love the way he questions the facts, thinks ahead (about destroying the Horcruxes, for instance, or fighting Voldemort), gives accurate analyses of people (the light way in which Slughorn approached that forbidden topic) or takes responsibility for his actions (he feels bad about using Hagrid to get Slughorn's memory). In a way, it's good that he never finds out Dumbledore lied to him about teaching him, for finding out just how duplicitous his headmaster was would only traumatise him, and there are such dark and difficult times ahead, and he'll need all the encouragement he can get.

I also liked your take on the Horcruxes; you certainly delved deeper into this dangerous magic than canon, and it allowed to see just how risky and unstable it is. It must be one thing for a well-informed African Dark wizard to create a Horcrux, fully understanding what it means, and Tom Riddle jeopardising himself due to lack of information and care. In a way, it's ironic: Voldemort takes such pride in pushing the boundaries of magic much further than anyone else, but at what cost?

The scene of Dumbledore's death is quite striking. Even though he is right to point out Narcissa has made a target out of herself, the fact remains that he deserves to hear all the truths she tells him. Dying in an Azkaban cell is humiliating for a wizard like him, no question; also, it's sad that no one will help Rosmerta with him gone. She'll join the list of victims like Hokey or Marvolo. But unfair imprisonments unfortunately happen, and you aren't sugarcoating this fact, no more than you sugarcoat Snape's self-serving personality or the deathly danger Slughorn will now face. Narcissa's majestic composure and duelling skills are well-depicted here.

I am deeply impressed by this chapter and looking forward to the next one.
