Misslieness chapter 25 . 3/19/2016
Wow, a lot happend here. I thought you had killed Jaune, but I suspect he's on borrowed time and will in the end perish.

Good to see that Ruby has almost stopped beijg stupid about Yang. That part has felt quite awkward for a while now.

Fight scenes are good, and Ozpin playing the role of Nevil Chamberlain is coming to bite him, as it should.
pojoe chapter 25 . 3/18/2016
Such a good story! I kinda forget how much I like it when it takes so long to to upload, and then when it does I have to try and remember everything that has happened in this story and then I remember how much I love it. I don't really want to complain about the time because I know how these things can go, I am just happy you still are doing it... even if I have to wait a few month for the next one haha.

But I really like this chapter, the fight were awesome and I loved the very beginning with Ozpin.

I can not wait for Blake and Yangs match! I think that will be pretty cool! Also I really hope This stuff with Ruby and Yang doesn't last to much longer... I like it when those two are happy hahah.

Great work!

I remember this fic , but not fully. Will need to re-read itl when i'm not on the phone
Dragon and Sword Master chapter 25 . 2/29/2016
I honestly have to admit that I like the darker tone that Volume three took us, the only two things I didn't like was Blake bolting at the end of the volume, but I am a firm believer that she'll be back sooner rather than later and the whole silver eye ex machina thing (Make Ruby a Maiden, not this Silver Eye bullshit).

Sorry about that, I got to ranting. I have to admit that this chapter was very wonderful and I cannot wait to see more of this wonderful story. I have to admit that I cannot wait to see the match between partners especially since that should be as great a match as the one in this chapter. Also, I've been silent about this for a while now but I'm starting to hate the announcer that has it "in" for Blake Belladonna and making these scathing remarks against her. I know he's being mostly a Heel commentator, but still...as a fan of the cat Faunus, it's starting to get on my nerves just a tad (That doesn't mean you're doing a bad job...it means that you're doing a fantastic job if I'm hating an OC)

Also...I like the fact that Jaune isn't awake yet in this chapter. He took a heavy blow from that bomb to protect everyone else so it definitely makes sense. Though if he finds out that Pyrhha has perished during the battle of Vytal like she does in Canon...I can see him becoming very depressed about the whole thing.

Misslieness chapter 24 . 11/26/2015
Thank you for updating. Overall a very enjoyable chapter and well-written fight scenes.

I feel that the story is spread a bit thin though, with the focus on Arkos. I also don't really get the rift between Yang and Ruby, and I feel that this is just drama for the sake of drama.

The terrorist plot have been hinted at forever though, so hopefully this gets underway a bit...

I'll reserve my thoughts on Jaune's predicament until next chapter. Cool semblance though.

Don't really like your take on Ozpin. He seems to cold and ruthless.

Anyway, looking forward to the next chapter.
Xyzantylzethyrioses chapter 24 . 11/22/2015
[If I did, Team NDGO would not be throwaways and would replace CRDL.] Sure, something like that. Throwaways are lame. RNG outcomes (unless there's a very clear and well-established advantage) FTW.
[(Seriously, one fight and they're like my third favourite team.)] Eh. They're not bad, but I don't like stuff when I don't have any information.

[Also, if you want to keep up with From Black to White and its possible updates, follow me on Twitter TheArcaneRose] I don't have a twitter, but I have a couple RWBY RT people and you saved for easy access.

[Yang couldn't see, she knew that much.] Uh, what?
[She just wasn't sure if it was the lights or the alcohol.] Oh. Wait, how did this happen?
[As if often was after big matches, The Club was rocking.] Ah. Her fight. (Also, if should be it)

Specially-induced OOC-ness. Not much to say about that. I object, but that's how things work.

"Malachites," Zeth spat. "If only they had actually died when Yang fought them before the first semester."
Oh. Maybe there'll be another fight, then. -[CRACK!] Sure enough. Good times...

[Noire looked nothing like he did in the third set against Coco.] Possibly an imposter? (I know that this quote is about action, not appearances. But it could be that there's a doppleganger, and one is vicious while the other is not.) Or he just wants to fight normally so that hopefully people forget... although it almost seems like he WANTS to show off his special ability.
Poor Neo. Now we get to see you in the hospital.

Um. Ozpin is weird.

Remnant board game! Your additions seem plausible. I always thought it was a four-player game, though.

["T-Tell her that I'm not in the mood to see her right now."] Yang will just waltz on in anyway. -Ooh, yep.

["This silence is making me feel awkward, and I'm a mute. Please start talking."] Seems a bit forward. I'd say "and I can't fix that."

["And I will not come back to you until I find out the truth. My mother is not guilty, and I'll prove it."] Uh... So Yang is taking after her mother, I see. See ya in a few months?

Awkward, Pyrrha.

Jaune is a mess. Hopefully he'll just lose like he should. And not just the first round.

[His opponent held his sword in places with her blades] in place
[The metal on her blades juddered slightly before entirely convulsing and wrapped around Jaune's.] Either ", and they wrapped around Jaune's." or " and wrapping around Jaune's."
You've used a lot of semicolons properly in this chapter, though.
["yet it's as if has no idea what he's doing."] as if he has

["Once I'd managed to pull Yang away from my lips long enough to ask Pyrrha what was wrong,"] ... Professionalism? What's that?

[Hope had sparked so great earlier he couldn't help but feel that this was all one big ruse.] Please still lose.

[CLANG!] Some of the bold stuff is obtrusive. It draws attention from several lines up, so it's almost like a spoiler.

Yep. Polearms do stuff.

[His Crocea Mors dropped hilt-first onto the empty gap where her blade had been and said gap widened, allowing Jaune's sword to slide into it before the metal clasped around the hilt.] Cool. Nom, nom, nom. Free sword.

Darn. He won. Decent Semblance, but just let him lose already.

["How come you didn't do that for me against Sun, Blake?"] I'm confused.

[As Jaune switched his shield to his right hand and vice versa with his shield,] shield shield

Fireballs. So Jaune will make a comeback, but hopefully he'll still lose... Please, Jaune; you know you want to lose.

[airship flashed across the sky] We now interrupt this broadcast...

Okay, fine; you can make his loss dramatic and interesting. That's permitted.

[I'm sorry for Monochrome almost taking a back seat since the start of the tournament arc.] Doesn't matter. It's good to have main characters not always be in the spotlight; it's a learning experience for them. Think how hard it would be to have an enjoyable story with only two characters. A fic doesn't have to be completely focused on one thing; the story events are taking over for now.

Xyzantylzethyrioses chapter 23 . 9/30/2015
[If I did, Winter would have been an adorable little sister] I sometimes think that would have been nice... but it probably would've shaped Weiss to be different from how she actually is. Or, was, at the beginning of Volume 1.

Huh, at least at the beginning of this chapter, there are a lot more typos than there usually have been recently.
[Definitely the pain/] . (one key over!)
[There wasn't any need to actually but the flowers (nightshades, of course), but she wanted to try it.] Not sure what exactly is intended. Maybe [There wasn't really any need to do anything, but she wanted to try giving Blake flowers. So she left to get some. Nightshades, of course.]. Not sure.
[The sudden warmth which engulfed distracted her at least.] Probably [At least she was distracted by the sudden warmth which engulfed her.].

[but had Plans A-Z in her back pocket afterwards,"] I could never get those snide commentator remarks right.

["Three vs. Twenty-Eight. I don't think there's much point in discussing it."] I hope that's wrong.

Rasmus and Yang. Good, other than that it's a clear plot point "coincidence".

Neo vs. Noire. On the upside, it's not one of the most important characters being put into a potentially life-or-death fight, but on the downside, Neo is an uncertain subject. While she is (was?) a villain, she's a likable one, even outside of this story.

Wow, I guess I lied in an earlier review. There are a lot of good matches left.

[Perhaps it would be better if she didn't?] Nope. The proper order of what would be better, from best to worst: Telling her; pulling out all of your fingernails and toenails then cutting off your fingers and toes; not telling her.

What you've done with Ozpin is quite non-standard. I don't feel much about it.

Rasmus vs. Yang stuff:

If the ice is specially hardened, why would Yang try to break it instead of going around it? If it's a complete bubble, she doesn't need to worry about anything because he'll have to come out of it sometime.

Those loose boots. I like that touch.

[However, Ruby looked surprisingly subdued. Not that her teammates were really noticed.] Not that her teammates really noticed. Not were.

[To her, she had already stamped a one-way ticket to the Quarter-Finals.] Lol. Please shoot her down before she's too smug. -Yes. Good. She deserved it.

Oh. Didn't mention it before, but [her trainer]. They're pretty much medics, right? They don't do anything to help them prepare.

It's like the trash talk alone is winning these fights. That's hilarious.

That was an explosive finish. Rasmus went out with a bang. No better way to end it.

wuuuut the trainer after the match...

[There really wasn't enough words to describe Aqua Farryn, was there?] weren't/were

Yes, what you did to Yang isn't exactly canon. I think that rather than taking hits harder, though, she'd just be too focused on offense to worry about being hit. This made for an interesting plot device, but I don't agree with it. She'd probably get a free pass to the finals realistically.

Heh, 2nd or 4th of September didn't really happen, did it? Don't worry; I'm worse.
Xyzantylzethyrioses chapter 22 . 9/30/2015
I like that in this chapter and the previous ones, the "cheering up" bits were done by characters that aren't necessarily the favored options. It's stale for Blake to always help Weiss, or for Pyrrha or Weiss to always help Jaune.

["Blake's not in bed plus Weiss and Ruby don't know where she is... So I thought she'd be up here trying to look ominous... Mind if I sit down?"] LOLolololol. Trying to look ominous. Other than that, wow. Blake is seriously bipolar in this story.

Wow, Jaune's thick skull finally caved? So maybe this was the first real point of realization for him. I'm sure there were fairly strong hints before. Oh well.

['I'll prove that her time didn't go to waste.'] Yay. The only canon pairing is making progress. I have a feeling that canon might go something like this, too. He needs a high-pressure setting for there to be a reason for someone to open up his mind, and the tournament is a clear option.

["I have to say, Steele, I didn't think we were letting reading time before the match," Ramos said.] Allowing.

Despite my first paragaph in this review, Weiss was the ONLY option for helping Pyrrha in that scene. I'm not saying it's good or bad that you did it, because you basically had to.

["So what did you say to Pyrrha,"] Should be ?

I'd like to note that in fluid mechanics, Tau is the variable for shear stress. That probably contributes to my not taking the guy seriously. He was a joke when we first met him, and he's barely not a joke now.

Oh, regarding the Aura healing: It would be neat to implement "fan contributions". Since apparently people either use their Aura to heal others or they transfer their Aura to others for the purpose of bolstering their regeneration, it would be meaningful for friends and supporters to request being able to help.

I'm almost completely sure that we're supposed to hate Rasmus, and it's working. There is nothing about the guy that I like. By the way, how the heck is STAR a team? Tau sucks at everything, and Rasmus has a useless mentality about everything. Sapphire is actually good, and I don't remember anything about Aqua. They're worse off than RWBY was during their first few days as a team.

Well, I was sort of right about Ulrica coming back to fight for revenge after the match. I didn't know that it would be Ylva, though, yet I was waiting for Ylva to reappear. (Another one of those things I forgot to add to some previous review. I forgot about her recently, though, so you win.)

["I never saw Adam's sword either... I guess-"] Did someone take it? It was never mentioned.

["I've graciously let you live twice now, yet you still come back looking for more?" Blake smiled slightly malevolently. "This time, I might not be so merciful."] And I have a feeling that that's not how it's going to go. -Umm. Guess I'm wrong. I didn't want a nice clean-up, but I got it. Now my only hope is for there to be repercussions, whether from the rest of Ylva's group or internally as some sort of guilt. Or both. -Yes! Both!
Xyzantylzethyrioses chapter 21 . 9/30/2015
Oh. Another of those things that popped into my mind just after submitting the previous chapter's review... It seems like you're exhausting most of the interesting tournament pairings right away, which gives an uneasy feeling.

["I... think I'm going to lose," Weiss said, beginning to remove her jacket as the heat began to catch up. "I can't get this technique perfect."] One thing I know from ten years of martial arts is that there is no such thing as a make-or-break technique. There just isn't. Everything has a counter, usually many counters. There is absolutely no reason for Weiss to need ONE technique to be within an inch of the exact intended target.

["Weiss, fighting isn't just tactics, calculations, trajectory and all that mumbo jumbo. A huge part of it is instinct."] Yeah, mostly, except instinct blends together with tactics. There's no real separation. Practicing tactics makes them instinctual, and applying instincts develops them to be more tactical. And... tactics are dynamic. Plans change constantly, which is why practicing "that one technique" is a horribly stupid idea.

["I can forgive Blake for killing my mother. I'm sure you can forgive Yang."] Yes. Blake PERSONALLY killed Mrs. Schnee in this story, and Yang is just vaguely associated with Summer's possible killer. I don't get it. Ruby's too happy of a person.

["There's a reason I'm here, and that's to win. Whether you were top seed or bottom, I'd give one-hundred percent and I would win. Don't think I'm going easy on you, I'll make sure that I am the winner."] That's another thing wrong with Weiss. She's too preoccupied with results. I want her to lose. She's currently the underdog and the protagonist, which is all the more reason for her to NOT win. Heh, that would be quite the plot twist if then Blake fought Sapphire and won. Reversal of the Mr. Schnee ordeal. Although... I have a bad feeling about the #32 person.

["We would've had to camp out to be first in line and avoid this."
"I'm not sleeping in a tent..."] Why not? I'm sure Blake has had much worse.

['Mind games,' she told herself, brandishing her rapier. 'Only amateurs are put off by mind games.'] Only people setting themselves up to lose think that hard about it rather than completely ignoring it.

[Maybe Ruby had a point about not everything being about tactics and meticulous planning. But they had gotten her this far and she'd be mad to change. So why not try both?] Exactly. I still want Weiss to lose, but I no longer hope that she loses. (Logical and emotional perspectives, respectively.)

["Disgraceful!" Rasmus exploded. "Not only did she lose after having all of the momentum, she doesn't even care! This is why I should have been leader."] Lol. Moron. Sapphire is doing things RIGHT. I don't have anything against Sapphire other than that she's fairly Mary Sue because we don't know anything about her past or present struggles, if any.

I'd like to note that Weiss didn't use "that one technique". She did not stab anyone in the dead center.

This is sort of a stereotypical fight result. Lose, come back, have no hope of staying up, then miraculously win; and on the mental side, vastly improving right in the heat of things when it matters most. Because of Weiss's change, it feels right for her to win, but I still think it would've been a proper choice for her to lose. There's no real reason why she should've suddenly changed her mentality, or, at least, not that fully. It would've been appropriate for someone to beat sense into her. Although that did happen in the first set, it was just a trigger for instantaneous change, rather than a goodbye-beating that triggers delayed change.

The announcers are appropriately rude. Such snide remarks. Good stuff.

[The other fights will be glossed over and the rest will be revealed in Chapter 23 (named Sixteen).] Nooo. So it's looking like the #32 person is actually not worth noting (unless they're a terrorist and come back after losing?), and we might not get to see Nora break Cardin's legs. Well... I guess breaking his legs would be short enough to still count as being glossed over.

Okay... Hopefully I'll write enough stuff here so that I don't have to complain at the beginning of the next review about things I forgot to add. 1. I still don't like the Ruby / Yang conflict. 2. It kind of seems like Weiss will just win the whole thing now... 3. I think Blake SHOULD get knocked out in the first round, but it would be satisfying for her to clean up shop and then proceed to even take down some of the biggest names. 4. Yang is a super saiyan. She certainly is a viable choice for the winner... although you probably have that decided already. If not, she needs some sense beaten into her, too.
Xyzantylzethyrioses chapter 20 . 9/30/2015
... So all the uncertainty was fixed just by saying they want to stay together for life? What about all the words before that which were similar in meaning?

[Months she and Ruby had been arguing. She still hadn't been forgiven.] So you skipped several dozen days, and nothing happened, whether in this conflict or for any other topics? Isn't there a tournament? And Yang has no control over it, so she shouldn't be blamed in the first place...

[Jaune was using reciting everything Pyrrha had forced into his head] using or reciting needs to go

["Underdog is just a code for someone that has come too far," Jaune said. "Most likely bottom-seeded and out in the first round for me."] Yeppers. Jaune may not be very skilled or smart, but he's smart enough to know that he sucks. Unfortunately, I expect him to not go out in the first round, just so everyone (including me) can be proven wrong. I hope he loses, but I expect him to win.

["You've been the only to build me, and to do it so quickly too."] only ONE / and you've done it so quickly

Jaune is being ridiculously oblivious. I think there was even a scene involving somebody telling Jaune that Pyrrha likes him... (If not, whoops wrong story, but I think there was one of those in here. There were at least strong hints.) Can't he just give up with Weiss? She's claimed for life. Maybe he doesn't know that exactly, but still... She has no interest. How stupid can you be? I've never wanted to take a friend's significant other.

[No one was really surprised, it happened almost every year.] ;

[as her sister gave one of her special oxygen-free hugs.] Appropriate description.

['Twenty-five...' Blake gritted her teeth. Her team were all in the top half. She didn't even know why she was getting angry. The seeding meant next to nothing, but it was just another thing to show her to be the black sheep of her own team.] Yeah... Unfortunately, a tournament isn't the same thing as fighting for the lives of your family and friends, or she might be better. She needs to learn to fight like how Ruby and Yang did in Episode 2, except with swords instead of fists. (If you don't remember, it was one of those cartoon dust clouds with stars popping out of it and such.)

Did Nora break Cardin's legs?! You must tell us these things! Too important! Oh, never mind. I thought you were skipping ahead to just past the first round, but it looks like that's not true. I look forward to it, then.

Nice cozy Tournament Conspiracy Theory Drama.
Dragon and Sword Master chapter 23 . 9/30/2015
Holy crap what a chapter and I do have to agree. Yang's Semblance is definitely OP'ed so I do like the clink in her armor as you stated. Plus that was one hell of a match...and I enjoyed every second of it *nods*

I cannot wait to see what you have in store for the next chapter and scene...
