a reincarnated devil cannot be stronger then his master at the time of rebirth. they can grow stronger afterwards but not when becoming a devil. that issei became Rias' pawn is impossible.

Rereading this story. While at first I thought it hadn't aged well, reading further got me to realize that the main issues with the story are the bits where you rigidly follow Canon. Your original bits are quite good.

Well, I did have a feeling that you indeed made Issei a little too weak. I mean, I didn't expect Issei to need his precious spear. But still, I think you really have a talent for combat scenes, no matter what you say.

Well, like in the beginning of the story, what I actually don't like is Issei being a Devil, what's more a mere pawn under a sheltered princess and that he actually treats her as his master. All of that is hard for me to accept. For someone like Issei, that fought war, exprienced so much horror and is so strong, it's outright degrading and insulting.

But that aside (which is not a little that) your story is really good. But if you could branch out of canon more, it would indeed be good.

If he really wanted to participate, he should have participated as a human (and letting Grayfia find a way or a loophole to let him in the Rating Game, after all she would definitely had done her best to find a way).

Truthfully, there is something really illogical here. He said he put himself in the Devil faction because else he would end up chased up by the Fallen Angels. But if he really did all of what you said (fighting the Khaos Brigade alone, holding Juggernaut Drive for two hours...), he is definitely as strong if not stronger than the Maou. Why would he be afraid of some Fallen Angels ?

So, he has no reason to even consider joining he Devils. Not his protection. Not because the Devils are cool (because honestly they are not, weak to holy powers, hideous wings...).

I just hope he won't end up as a devil. I would be greatly disappointed. I think that the fact that he did all that as human, he should keep his pride and live as such. Not giving up what he is for absurd reasons.
