Reviews for The Rain is Trying to Tell me Something
vicente3 chapter 1 . 8/1/2019
Loved this. I feel you likely could have made the fanfiction four times as long with the given plot (and I’d still read it!), but regardless you tie all the loose ends together in a satisfying conclusion. Well done! By the way, the writing style really fits Hyouka’s atmosphere. I could see this as being fully canon.
kencpd chapter 1 . 7/8/2019
really really really really really love it x10000!
endyMionFreaks chapter 1 . 3/20/2019
I love thissss. They stayed true to their characters, for a second i thought i was reading the real thing.
Reader chapter 1 . 3/6/2019
This was very well written, the attention to character detail what pretty much spot on! Like it!
sssoueri chapter 1 . 9/6/2018
I am absolutely floored at how beautiful and indepth this was. I, too, have just returned from rewatching Hyouka and reading this just made me think of the anime and how this could have been a nice, if not frustratingly and creeping giddiness into my toes goodness, sequel to it if they ever expanded on the story!
salty nap princess chapter 1 . 8/2/2018
I can't believe the last time I read this was 2 years ago but everything is so clear to me now. I can't believe it took this many reads for things to click but do I love it. Maybe I'll finally be able to understand Hyouka because despite it being my favourite anime, I can never fully wrap my head around it. but thank you again for this lovely fic
ickaser chapter 1 . 6/17/2018
I love this so much. I am very, very impressed by how true to the characters you were-if somebody told me this was a piece written by Yonezawa himself (had to look that one up) and translated into English, I would believe it.
Also, 10/10 on your grammar/readability. I consider myself to be a moderately skilled writer when necessary, but a very skilled editor, and in 15,000 words I noticed maybe a couple typos, misspellings or malapropisms.
You really nailed the character development, too. I don't think I'd ever thought about Houtarou's own lack of self esteem, and I think that's because it's never really mentioned or shown specifically, but it absolutely rings true with me here. And of course it's so fun to see how Mayaka and Satoshi get involved.
ThEternaLight chapter 1 . 10/19/2017
Ah, I love this story! It is beautifully written and your symbolism with the umbrella is just perfect. Its something I never really thought about before but it is actually a lovely metaphor for their relationship. The characters are wonderfully portrayed and the dialogue between them is very realistic. Please do keep writing Hyouka, your stories are so perfect!
yesterthoughts chapter 1 . 6/25/2017
I never get tired of reading this. Thank you for such a nice, in-character story! :) The Hyouka fandom owes you much haha
Nory 1231 chapter 1 . 6/23/2017
Best Hyouka fanfic in history!
There were no OOCs and it was really entertaining.
If the Novel ends like this,I would be really happy.
Great Story,Has the the same atmosphere as the novel, and really satisfying ending.
Wish this wasn't a one-shot cause I need more!
Thanks for writing this fanfc.
Turtleesh chapter 1 . 6/18/2017
This is my first haul to Hyouka fandom, making it my first Hyouka fanfic, starring my fave chara and protagonists, Oreki and Chitanda. In short, It was great. The character, the plot, the pacing, everything is on-point. I'm amazed by your ability to deliver the characters feeling, making me feel sad one time, angry in the other, or happy along with them. It was a rollercoaster of emotion there. I don't think I will find another hyouka fanfic as good as this, or better yet something that can top this. I really appreciate it that you make this magnificent story and share it with us. Thank you for your hardwork.
empropathy chapter 1 . 4/11/2017
Am thinking this is the best Oreki x Chitanda fanfic as of now hehe nice job! You did exert quite an effort on this. Also yes I do think, too, that the red umbrella holds a weighty #feel
Nivicci Shiama chapter 1 . 2/12/2017
I think it's "jūnihitoe", not "junhitoe". Missing a "ni".
I am not sure what to think about it being in 3rd person. Well, it allows you to be omniscient about all characters, so actually I think it helped your story development.
Find it odd to imagine Mayaka with that hair.
Really enjoyed how you wrote about Chitanda's relationship with her father. The way he answered the questions being a total opposite of what Oreki does.
Gotta say it was a satisfying ending. I'll take a look at your other works. Gotta fav this one ofc. It's a shame it seems you haven't been around for a while.
nap team captain chapter 1 . 12/14/2016
Oh god, there are no words I can think of to express how content and happy I am after reading this. Satisfied perhaps? But it feels like so much more! So much more!
It's saddened me to see you haven't updated in a while, but, I know I'll find myself gravitating back to this fanfic. It's simply too good to be a one-time things. It's truly an experience worth reading!
I love, love, love this, every single piece of me loves this. I hope you continue writing in the future, you write so well and so wonderfully.
Thank you for writing this. I hope kindness finds you and stays for the happiness you've given me
it's simply me chapter 1 . 10/13/2016
This was a masterpiece, in as much a sense as a fanmade piece can be. The flawless, abstract way everything waa flowing, metaphorical and not, and yet the dialogues were 100% uni students. The way satoshi is obsessed, yet the same, that mayaka is exactly the same, that Oreki can't ever say anything.

I absolutely loved the whole conversation between him and mayaka. That was pure genius. You even attributed that to his 'energy preserving' personality. That he wanted to not do it an yet hoped someone else would do it for him.

You even got Chitanda's father perfect! HOW can you make just a few lines reflect all the reasons Chitand is the way she is? I'm telling you; it's genius.

This is easily, one of the best fanfictions I have ever read (no small praise, if you were to know the sheer amount of stories I have read), both by how the story has been continues and how easily your rendering of the characters so seemlessly moulds with the canon.

Standing O.
