It kind of makes sense for them to meet while one of them is in trouble and the other defends him. And this one-shot was actually very interesting. I think that Groot could have jonied Rocket because of protextiveness he felt for him.

Maybe the next version should be that they met in a bar XD.

This was great! I loved that you posted two alternate storylines within the same fanfiction: I think the second version fits a bit more into my personal head-canon, but the first one was very creative, and I found it interesting (albeit a tiny bit puzzling) that the "I am Groot"s were automatically translated in Rocket's mind.
