Wonderfully perceptive. I want to rave about this chapter, I found it so moving.
So sad, how they are both grateful and flush with love that drives them in completely opposite directions. Even though Carol was sort of wronged, I felt worse for Daryl. She knew her heart and accepted it, but he couldn't even accept that he could deserve what She offered willingly. What poverty of spirit, so painful to see.
Rick sounded spot-on. I could hear every turn of phrase clearly and visualize both men in that scene.
I like how you had Carol use what Daryl most appreciated about their encounter - her patience and understanding - to bring him back to her.

You've got their little glances and movements and the quiet, sparing way they speak to each other perfectly nailed. You brought so much depth and meaning to such a simple concept - and that's what amazing writing is all about.

I really liked your take on chapters 2 and 3. Daryl's reaction to Carol walking in was unexpected, but I can see that happening. His quiet little response was kind of perfect at showing what's between them. I like that you didn't have him react the way I might have first thought. This was much more meaningful, and it makes complete sense the way you wrote it.

Carol's reaction in chapter 3 was much the same.

I so hope there really are 30 of these!
