Huh. Didn't see that whole mermaid thing coming.

The mermaid thing threw me for a loop with how random it was (though I guess it's where the title came from). Aside from that, I really liked it.

Good story. Well written, believable characters, good plot, etc. etc. etc. You did a good job. I wished there was more to read.

My only complaint was the mermaid thing. That just felt so random and unnecessary to me. Mainly because you didn't really explain it at all. I would say either expand upon that a little more, or just cut that out and put in a different reason that wouldn't need a lot of background to it.

Besides that, good job. Hope to see more from you soon.
