Nice edit/cleanup/rewrite/whatever you want to call it. You've got lots of pov's here but none of them are muddled and you clearly established what everyone's think/doing in the context of the scene. Very in character too.

In response to your question, I agree with what other people have said. Merlin should end up being decent with a sword, (not right away, he didn't grow up training after all) not as good as Arthur but decent. And maybe be really good with a crossbow? He used one in the Sword and the Stone episode and seemed to know what he was doing. It's a common enough weapon and one he could easily use magic with if need be.
