This story was such an emotional rollercoaster and I loved every minute! There was so much angst, both in Herc's relationship with Chuck and also his heartbreaking discovery of the sort of man Scott really was. There was humour as well, which was great because it really made me appreciate the lighter moments, both with Chuck and his comrades and the banter with Herc and some of the others. It's great how you added in your own characters and your own take of some of the events, the timing didn't match up perfectly to the movies but I honestly didn't even mind it. Thank you very much for this special story.

Having said that, your Chuck and my Chuck aren't all that different, so this ending isn't hitting me as hard as it might hit some. It's just always sad when people feel a need to bluster and look impressive because they're that desperate to hide something.

This was great! I'm glad you were able to wrap it up. And gosh darn it. Why'd you have to go and give me Chuck feels again?

This whole fic was a downer, dear - but not in a bad way. You took us through your interpretation of the history before Pacific Rim started...and then between the opening scene and the rest of the movie, using nothing but your imagination, a little bit of established canon and a graphic novel.

It's beautiful. It's heartbreaking. It's REAL. And I as I got dragged into it by a friend, I will repeat what I said to her: "Can I b*tch you out now?" I got as much into this as any professional novel. I read when I shouldn't have been reading, I literally sat for hours in the beginning when I had chapters backed up for me to read, and I laughed and cried and loved the journey.

No need for an apology on this, Jocelyn. It's a brilliantly crafted piece of work that you should be (and hopefully are) very proud of.

Definitely a sad chapter, though not as heartwrenching as the previous one. Chuck's situation is a little shaky in my head; I find it a touch questionable that with his training it seems he doesn't (want to?) see what's going on with the kaiju. Or maybe he really is just scared and it's more reassuring to scoff at humans for their failures than believe that the threat from kaiju has grown.

Every time I saw "Lunk," all I could think was "lunkhead." lol Don't know how accurate that is, but your end note does explain why I might have that idea. It also explains the anonymous review from someone who's apparently so certain yet doesn't have the gumption to own it openly.

Well, all things must end. I'm looking forward to this fic's final hurrah.

Great chapter, Poor Indra, Poor Tendo having to face those memories and then face Gypsy Danger and oh no poor Bruce and Trevin, I wonder if Raleigh's fate had an affect on Trevin's fate and poor Caitlin and Sergio but mostly poor Caitlin feeling it is all her fault, and poor Raleigh as he's getting into this and poor Stacker having to break two promises to the Becket brothers. Poor Herc for having to deal with all his friends dying and dealing with Chuck and poor Chuck for having to think that of the others in order to continue to do his job.

I didn't realise you could make me sadder than you did last chapter... that said, thanks for updating, the chapter's quality was excellent, and please post more as soon as possible.

P.S. Happened to notice this: "They graduated Class of 2016-B of the Jaeger Academy, along with the pilots of Jaeger Vulcan Specter and Jaeger Gipsy Danger. Gipsy Danger was destroyed in 2020. Hydra Corinthian is now the last of that class still in service."

Not sure if the inclusion of Vulcan Specter is a mistake or I just forgot a previous set of pilots.
