I knew Sherlock had to notice the change, but I still didn't see the whole pushed up against the wall and snogged breathless in front of Lestrade and company. That was a pleasant surprise.

Into every story a cliffy ending must fall. I guess it was to much to hope that Sherlock would accept comfort from John. At least he now has the Mycroft seal of approval.
