Its pitiful how little faith the students have in the staff protecting them form bullies, violence and so imbalanced.
I would think that the self study for potions might be a popular option.

Clever of Hermione to make Ron promise but it still bothers me -something doesn't seem right about it. Not sure how Hermione can protect herself unless she confundus's Draco into stealing gold from another student and lets the goblins take him away...oh wait, Hermione wouldn't do that.

The personal interactions are realistic. I hope George ends up with a Potions mastery but not sure if this Snape will mentor him or not. Just realized that it is so very hypocritical for Snape to come down on Harry for using his cutting spell on Draco later when Snape himself cast it on Sirius but hit Ron with it. He's a professor and dueler and spy and just it doesn't make sense for him to be able to be those things and out of control of his emotions around Black. Except that typically the type of people who join and form hate groups aren't the brightest but still Voldemort is and for Snape to avoid detection as a spy with such poor self control doesn't fit...
