You should anmend the year to 1943 perhaps as in 1944 Tom riddle was 17 and while yet to finish Hogwarts was an adult able to legally do magic outside school and so I have no doubts he would not have hesitation to do so, I think he may have spent the summer with his fathers family before killing them.

I absolutely love everything! I hope to learn more about Harry's past lives and a bit about his past motivations/ideas concerning his reincarnation. I wonder if these are all alternate dimensions or if his curse rewinds his current timeline?
