Just read this! They are all excellent, but I particularly love how you shift the mood of the last chapter from flippant to electric... It's so teasingly unfolded and your still chuckling when you suddenly realise what really happened and everything goes cold. Masterful story-telling, thank you.

I love in this one how Athos somehow maintains the appearance of hemming in the chaos when in actuality he's feeding it. Completely complicit in the "demonstration" lol. Really good characterization.

Incredible. Chapter 6 was a tale of such fiendish complexity, delivered impeccably by the four best actors in the regiment! Treville's unamusement at Aramis' antics made me laugh out loud! Brilliant storytelling!x

Re-reading and I wish this chapter had as much appreciation as some of the others in this series. I'm confused that it doesn't! Porthos is my favorite and this is so very true to his character. Such a wonderful scene with all the feels. The unsettling but intelligent confrontation with the Cardinal. The way Athos and Aramis are there to just catch him in the hallway as he leaves. The way they breathe against him in tandem. So much trust there, I love it. Thanks for writing!

I cannot say I am quite sure what happened on the docks there, but I can say that it was a hilarious reenactment.

Chapter 6 is a work of subtle wit and poetic cadence! I laughed out loud several times! You need to hear what a gifted story teller you are. Many authors find it too challenging to develop the story through dialogue, but all of your works do that quite well. I think your concerns in the end notes are only for those who wish to read without thinking. I thoroughly enjoyed having to identify with Treville and work to understand the necessity of the "demonstration"! Wonderful!
