Reviews for Harry Potter and the Pursuit of Significance
Inperiosus chapter 4 . 18h
The fic is really well written, but extremely irritating.
1) The part that makes me not wanna read this is:
Harry acts as a pureblood heir without any prior knowledge magical community, even if he is an orphan.
2) Harry is arrogant

Interesting...

Small comment: Moody's first name is "Alastor", not Alastair. I'm enjoying the story though. It's very interesting to read about a competent and quick acting Voldemort. Thanks for sharing.

Intense

Why on Earth would Dumbledore think Harry would be ok with taking that potion? Why would he think Harry trusts him? Harry’s family legacy was robbed from him. The Potter family was gutted. And Dumbledore himself gave away a Potter family heirloom of great power and acted like Harry was a monster for asking for it back. If Dumbledore wants Harry’s trust, give him things of real value without a self-serving motivation.

Blindly and wandlessly transfiguring his restraints is a really interesting use of magic. If I were him, I’d practice that. There might be workarounds to not being able to see the starting object he’s trying to transfigure.

A spell to see through walls sounds very useful. Luckily knowing it exists and the effects should make searching for it easier. I’m sure Harry took note of that information.

Nora wants Harry to tell her about a spell he used when she won’t do the same? Yeah, right. Harry is not that kind of guy.

Harry is much too young for Fleur? There is a 3-year age difference. In a 150-175 year average lifespan in a very small, insular community, that’s nothing. And Bill was at least 5-6 years older than Fleur. That wasn’t TOO old?

“…we added you to these wards without asking for anything in return.” – Yeah…I think adding him to the wards was part and parcel of the long-term arrangement Harry has with the family. Harry also needed access to Lord Greengrass for training.

Offering another family the protection of your wards is probably something that has happened many times in history. The value of such a thing is likely well known. So, is 1 million galleons a fair price? Or is this Harry’s naivety and his goodwill for the family? That could have been made clear with a sentence or two of text.

I can understand Harry’s reticence with his grandfather. He’s been taken advantage of many times over. Trust is always going to be hard for him to give. Which makes the way he’s interacting with the Greengrass family very strange. They’re going to be in his castle, for long periods when he’s not there. There has been nothing in-chapter to say that the wards will keep them out of key areas of the castle, like the library, or to keep them from doing anything that could potentially harm the safety of the castle itself or betray him. His paranoia and lack of trust needs to be evenly distributed.
Phazer12 chapter 21 . 7/8
So a Horcrux. Well, I thought of the same when it was brought up, but now it's certain. The more obvious question is if he is King William Potter, why wasn't he able to take over other potters if he made the ward book his Horcrux.
Phazer12 chapter 9 . 7/8
Okay, it getting quite good. So many changes and its aftermath, yeah I can safely say that I like the way it is going. Just needed some things clarified, because I am at a loss. What was Harry called at the orphanage, "Harry", if so how did they know? What was Daphne's position at the duelling tournament at the start, you didn't specify nor did we see any fight of hers except for the one against Moon. And at last, are Malfoys some type of traitors or purists but less tie to death eaters like they were funders.

I guess the book is messing with Harry's body, it wants to take over his soul, do something author!, Now this chapter was really good but I hope you update next chapter soon.
Hank Jones chapter 2 . 7/5
aaaaaand I'm out. What a stupid idea that no one would know Harry survived. We know from the tapestries and other magics in the book there are lots of ways for magic to know if someone is truly dead. The idea that Gringotts wouldn't have a way to verify if someone with Potter blood was still alive is a joke. That the Ministry would then be able to just take all their money immediately, in this Pureblood protected world, is an even bigger joke.

Shame, I was interested in this story, but I'm dropping it here. This idea doesn't bode well for the rest of the story. There are much smarter ways to achieve Harry being penniless, if thats what you want, which based on this shitty choice is CLEARLY the case. Good luck!

shinjutree chapter 21 . 7/4

Sorry to hear the news about your mom.

Looks like Daphne isn’t too thrilled with having Fleur around Harry. Have to wonder despite what she says about him being too young if she will continue to hold that view later on. Your Harry is 12 in this fic so right now it makes sense though
