This story was interesting to read; I enjoyed the ideas you spun in here- of America taking over the world to defeat communism, but at the cost of england’s sanity. A sad and bittersweet story...

I like your unique way of mixing cardverse and countries together. I think you've done it a couple times now, each in a different way, and each just as fascinating as the last. So, communism is what makes America finally flip his lid and settle for world domination huh? The one question I had is why England can't go outside the walls until after the war is done? You didn't mention anything about regaining his memory after the war. So he'll freak out just as badly stepping out of those walls and remembering everything regardless of China and Russia. Just a thought. Once again, lovely.

This is so cool O.O I'll admit, I was extremely confused for a while there, but I think I get it now.
He's rare, but I absolutely adore insane/power-hungry/wannabe-ruler-of-the-world!America. Especially when paired with abused/deceived/otherwise worse-off!England. America wouldn't have a clue what he was actually doing, though, of course. There can be a fine line between protection and control, after all.

Oh my gosh I'm so excited to read more of this story! I love the way you write England, and your storylines are just gorgeous. It makes me feel like I'm reading a book straight out of English class! I'm so excited to read more.

Don't worry, Robin, I think we all knew it was going to be a depressing story as soon as we saw that the title was "Brave New." Nothing called "Brave New" ever ends well. Plus, beautiful writing combined with cruel characters screwing each other (both literally and figuratively) is sort of your thing. It makes sense though; I think that if nations really did exist, they would probably be as twisted as you write them, not the happy-go-lucky goofballs that the rest of us imagine ;)

Also, the ending with Cardverse being a story that England told colony!America was a nice twist. I love how you fit so many references into your stories.

well, thats weird. I usually enjoy your writing immensely (you're basically the only fanfic account i still check and also probably the reason i'm so obsessed with this pairing) and it is flawless as usual but the plot feel so empty. Its just, all of this, its so unconvincing not even the character seem to be able to deliver enough pathos trough their dialogue. They simply lack that 'something' that makes them feel so raw and alive and unpredictable (ever for you, even if you re writing them sometimes it is) and whats left is a bit boring. yeah i'd say the main thing about this story its that it is kinda boring. I don't usually write negative reviews and i'm already sorry ? o well too late i already wrote this whole thing. i hope it makes sense i'm not an english speaker ! cheers

Honestly, I feel that the ravens will somehow restore Arthur's memory so he can soundly throttle Alfred for being a possessive little bastard.

I simply cannot believe Arthur is down for the count either. As much as America wants England safely tucked away in his dream within a dream, there is just too much history waiting beneath the surface for it to last. And it is never wise to cross the Queen of Spades!

I REALLY LIKE THE SURPRISE CANON TWIST. Probably because I've never been a big fan of cardverse...but anyway. Once again, brills fic, loving all the Shakespeare references - YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT ME IN THAT REGARD.
But yes. 10/10 fic. Sad and poignant, as usual.

OF COURSE ITS COLD WAR. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN.
You should make a bingo card with how many different ways you can reinterpret the Cold War with Cardverse.
And this fic tickles me in particular because I always say that if Communism had happened in England, with the actual working class, and not the tweaked, not-quite-what-Marx-had-in-mind Communism that emerges in Russia and China, it might have succeeded. I guess perhaps America thought the same and panicked. Oh dear.
I'm interested in what kind of resolution, if any, this situation could have.
Also, I like how Alfred's pov /almost/ makes him see reasonable. Any other fic and we're completely on England's side when he calls America paranoid, obsessive, etc., partially because we as readers know the history. But here, partly because of the AU nature, America's self-righteousness and justification /almost/ seems reasonable. Almost.

This is really good and well-written. It has such a tragic feel to it, while although they have hope the Spades will win the war, it doesn't seem like they will have a happy ending, and they know it too. I hope Alfred can find the courage to tell Arthur his secrets. Good job with this so far.

I don't think I will EVER tire of your stories of Arthur and Alfred. And, once again, I ready for the next update before I am finished with chapter one!

I am concerned, though...Alfred, what have you done?
