On a side note, if I may add my two cents, I think making the reader a bit uncomfortable with your story is the mark of a good writer. You want people to talk and share your story and feel the want to come back and find out what happens to their favorite characters. My suggestion would be to go with what makes the story flow the best and have fun writing it. Don't worry if people tell you they didn't like it because you did such and such. Write for you.
