Well, now that they're thinking properly about Ace's parents and hereditary traits... Old people. Should be interesting. Hopefully the boys left as ordered instead of trying to be sneaky and eavesdrop. Whitebeard can keep secrets fine, Thatch? Yes, probably, but not showing a noticeable difference in his behavior at first? I doubt it. Marco would probably wonder more about the "hereditary" part of things.
I foresee Whitebeard being all the more impressed with his newest Son, once the shock fades enough. If Kureha wasn't upset about accidentally spilling the beans, he might even give that signature belly laugh and pat Ace on the head. *snickers*
Hopefully they'll decide to tell Ace about his mother some. Talking about his biological father is always going to be a touchy subject and somewhat unpleasant, but I bet he'd love to learn more about his mother. Learning he literally has her eyes - in appearance and degeneration both - would be an interesting thing for him to ponder.

I wonder how long Ace could live on the Moby before someone tried to show him something and he can't read it? If the only two people on board who know he's literally blind not illiterate aren't handy to intervene, I could totally see someone jumping to that conclusion and various "brothers" trying to "teach him to read (so he can help with paperwork)". I was giggling at Marco's brief thought somewhere about "a sibling who maybe will actually do their paperwork" in reference to Ace before they'd had a chance to get to know each other yet, because even if Ace is diligent enough to do it he literally can't here unless they can print off the papers in braille and that seems like too much hassle for a ship. Buying actual books if braille exists in OP, yes, trying to print their paperwork in it? Not worth the effort when they can make someone else do it. I do wonder how he could end up as a Commander in this 'verse, though, or if that's one change to his path he can't achieve or work around. He's badass and brilliant, but even with ever increasing Haki skills to help him see and keep track of the crew, he can't do all of the paperwork and if he isn't willing to tell his minions why he can't, it probably won't look very good.

Poor Ace.
It's nice to see such a realistic take on the travel times, though. Logically it ought to take so long between lots of places, the manga just skips over most of the in-between unless there's something amusing happening. Unfortunate for Ace, but pleasing to the stubbornly picky and precise analyst in me.
