Kronoslord oftime chapter 62 . 7/1
Jaune atleast to me was a coward who couldn't live with the choices he made he made them of his own free will but was to affriad to deal with what he did I'm honestly more interested in what would have happened had he stayed the course and slammed the train into vale

but this was well written even if the cheap time travel fake out happened but I digress it was a good read.
NigmaE chapter 43 . 6/18
...Well well, you certainly did a good enough job disguising what direction your story would go down, but at the same time I always felt it'd end up like this. Call it a gut feeling, or just from reading far too much fiction and starting to see the deeper workings behind writing, but I somehow knew Jaune wouldn't go Full Criminal and do a course correct at some point in the story.

I'm of mixed minds about it. I like the dynamic struggle that was presented between his two 'halves' as they tried to come up with a compromise that would satisfy them both, and how his soul, while becoming quite tarnished, never truly lost all its nobleness and inherent 'goodness'. Makes for an inspiring comeback when a person boldly turns away from the sinister path at the last second and tries to redeem themselves, for better or worse.

On the other hand, I so WANTED to see what an 'Evil'/Fully Immoral Jaune was like, as it's a surprisingly rare thing (at least to me) for writers to have a character normally good become 'evil' (or put the on the path to becoming so, as was formerly the case here), then fully commit to the idea and make it all engaging and interesting. For me personally the Evil to morally ambiguous types are the most interesting parts of the story, as their plans and ideals are so very interesting and are a largely responsible for a given story's plot-progression arc. Its why some people root for the Joker in 'Batman: The Dark Knight' , even though they know he's completely in the bad and he has no hope for victory. It'd be a delight to see what a truly unfettered Jaune (or Justine John, rather) could do, and how he'd shake the world to its very core, so losing out on that and only seeing mere hints at that is...disappointing, really.

Speaking of those 'hints', what makes this worse is the whole...let's call them fate mechanics for simplicity's shake. I'll be blunt here: my opinion is that they don't really add much to the story but teasers to the other darker path your Jaune could've gone on and needlessly complicating what could've just been a simple Redemption ARC (hah!) in a story. Don't get me wrong, they're certainly interesting, and its nice to see glimpses of how bad things could've gotten, but the fate mechanics are a bit too cerebral and ghostly for a story like this, as well as just ill fitting for it too. I know intrigue and subtly were what you were aiming for throughout your story up to this point (and perhaps beyond), but you could've done more world building and blunter hinting to make the reveal of fate mechanics to be less jarring.

I'm reminded of a piece of advice when it comes to writing: 'No matter how big or complex your ideas get, it almost always best to keep it (the story) simple and sweet as you can manage. Otherwise your ideas can get away from you, and the end result is messy plot points or, in the worst cases, a messy story.' To your credit I don't think the fate mechanics made for a worse or messy story, but they do take some of the charm and spirit out of it. After all, when Fate itself decrees that you're going to be heroic, damn the actions of other, Time itself, and everything else, a degree of impact is lost from both the characters and the story itself.

Despite this development, I'll still be reading the rest of this story, as I'm still quite interest to see where you're ultimately going to make out of everyone and everything. I'll need to take a break before doing so, but rest assured you still have an avid reader until the very end.

Stickginge chapter 62 . 1/29
Well I really enjoyed your last segment here. Explaining a lot that I still kinda questioned.
I think RWBY has tainted me for ships, I know you said you were staying away from it but I always liked the Jaune and Ruby dynamic.
Stickginge chapter 60 . 1/29
Man you suck. Why you gotta put your readers through this emotional rollercoaster...but I guess it was still really good.
This conclusion feels kinda...empty to but that’s just me.
