Reviews for Burdens of the Past
Lamarquise chapter 1 . 5/13
From what I can see, it's not the same. The damage and dynamics of physical abuse are very different. But Tony wouldn't understand that because he wasn't raised in a high-conflict, physically abusive situation where everything was dominated by assessing mood and physical risk. Your Tony does exactly what you accuse this Steve of doing...minimizing their experiences and trying to equate experiences when he's never experienced physical abuse and doesn't know what he's talking about.
JulsaIthil chapter 1 . 5/30/2019
The summary says something else but the story tells a different story. It is true not all pain is physical.
FandomFixtureForever chapter 1 . 4/27/2019
Well this is an awesome depiction of the prompt if there ever was one!
Guest chapter 1 . 4/16/2019
Ok i apologize for jumping i saw you put steve down playing tonys abuse and skipped straigh to comments wasn't even gonna continue reading but glad i did.

And glad you didn't brush neglect and any focused emotional and mental abuse aside like many people seem too.
Guest chapter 1 . 4/16/2019
Im sorry but child neglect is also abuse don't down play it cause thats bullshit they all leave emotional and mental scaring and that sometimes is the worse cases as the scars are hidden not out on show!
BookWorm4479 chapter 1 . 9/2/2018
So many of my issues with Steve could have been solved with better communication. I really want to like him, but he's an ASS. Thank you for giving him the chance to grow as a person, even in fic.
Linz2 chapter 1 . 7/6/2018
This felt very human and realistic, which can come in short supply in a superhero franchise. Hats off to you.
Wepm chapter 1 . 5/14/2018
This si so unfair! I wish the whole fandom didn't bash Steve so much, some of us like all the Avengers.
iadorespike chapter 1 . 7/18/2017
Excellent answer to the prompt. My heart for Tony, and I loved Thor's involvement.

Thanks so much!
S chapter 1 . 6/20/2017
This is such a great story! You handle these issues very well and show both sides. I know some people think that their pain is worse. I have a friend who did that. But everyone has that moment that they think there can be no greater pain then their own. But like in the story it is better to talk it out and think about what others feel instead of yourself. Not to judge.
This has become my favourite story. Thank you.

My Dad has done a lot of research on neglect and he's found that it's a form of abuse.

MaiWishes chapter 1 . 6/13/2015
I love these type of in depth bonding. I thought it was JARVIS that was sending Steve the articles!
