Reviews for Earth-717: Ms Marvel Volume 1
Guest chapter 12 . 4/18/2019
This writing is 1.000k times (as plotline, character development, minor changes, etc. with original taste) WAY BETTER than "Captain Marvel" movie (2019)

Incroiable!
This was so good it could've been a published novella. Your back story for Carol and her love for the cosmos was a very clever idea. I also liked how her background and training as a pilot didn't become irrelevant once she got superpowers, but actually ended up being a vital part of her saving the day.

Your descriptive writing is beautiful. It was especially noticeable in a story with so much different scenery. I think it was good that you had such a variety of settings for your story. Many of Earth's other heroes tend to keep their battles on the homefield, but it made so much sense for Carol to defend the planet on our own soil as well as get to traverse the stars and journey into the heart of the Kree Empire itself.

I loved how you wrote the relationship between Mar-Vell and Carol. It was so natural and deep. One can see that Captain Marvel is attracted to heroic women. His back story with Una was heartbreaking, and gave a lot of insight as to why, of all the Kree (even Sar-Torr, who seems to have a conscience) he alone appreciates the value of another world's strength and will to survive. I'm also glad he's blue. Blue is just good. The whole "pink-skinned breed of Kree" never made much sense to me. With the exception of the Vell family, all the other noteworthy Kree have always been blue. It just makes sense to leave them all that way.

Salia's disposition is so cute. She reminds me a bit of the Wasp from Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes [I really hope you write an Ant-Man and the Wasp story]

Karla Sofen! That lady terrifies me XD ever since Dark Reign. As soon as I saw her name, I was like "Fuuuuuuuuu...". That ring technique she used on Mar-Vell seems familiar. Isn't that what that Leviathan psychologist did on Agent Carter? Anyway, the fact that she's sadistic and selfish and probably has a few psychological issues herself but is still such a cunning and effective master of mental manipulation is going to make her such a good villain. The way she got Mar-Vell to give her the moonstone, oh she's good. She's very good.

Lastly, the opening scene for Chapter 11 was so beautifully written. What with the recollection of the conversation she had had with her dad, and the fact that at that moment she was quite literally among the stars and had fulfilled her dream of going where no woman (or man) had gone before (Kree Space), it was splendid. I think you must really enjoy writing Ms. Marvel, because you did an excellent job.

Question: Do the Kree in your universe have inherent super strength? 616's explanation is that their planet has incredible gravity which they evolved to be able to withstand - even though that begs the question: does every world they've ever been to just happen to have weaker gravity than Hala? Anyway, I only ask because I noticed that Salia seemed perfectly fine on Hala and usually the mainstream comics say it has hectic gravity and a significantly higher concentration of nitrogen.

Heh. Mar-Vell's a pretty cool guy.
Gundam Kaiser chapter 2 . 12/3/2015
Gotta say this looks to be pretty interesting.

...then again, it's not like I have any significant knowledge of Ms. Marvel canon, so pretty much all of this is new to me...
Gundam Kaiser chapter 1 . 12/3/2015
D'aawww... kid!Carol is adorable...
Reborn Dark Phoenix chapter 2 . 9/9/2015
Hmm, conspiracies galore. The Grand Accuser of the Kree in cahoots with one of the greatest warlords of the Skrulls? Didn't see that coming.

Alright, an establishment of the Nova Corps, and Veranke is active. The battles here were nicely written, really allowed me to see it all in my head. I enjoyed it, nicely done.
I would like to know why the Nova Command thought to try to reverse engineer the Universal Weapon. And what's going on in the Skrull Empire.

Another great chapter, excellent work.

How has no one favorites this yet?! Seriously, I'm only on the first chapter and I'm already hooked :D

Anyways, onto the review!
Alright, new and fresh AU, clear with the differences in Carol's childhood origins and lack of brothers. Doesn't matter much, because you make lil' Carol so freaking adorable! I love her little kid self. It just makes you go "awwwww..."
And you really developed her love of space and the cosmos here excellently. Nicely done.
I like Joseph's adaption here. He's her dad, she's Daddy's little girl, so there's spoiling her right there. He appears to love her genuinely now. That little hesitation to answer her question makes me wonder, though...

And I also like the connectivity you implement, mentioning Captain America.

Pretty much no grammar errors, either, always a plus.

All in all, excellent first chapter. I'm glad I found this story.
