awwww I remember this episode when she didn't deny what happened. how utterly heartbreaking that was. I like you dug a little deeper in the angst barrel and we are taken further into what may have happened in their cottage as she is still plagued by her fears yet accepting her husband's love more than ever.

This was an incredibly painful read. I had tears in my eyes throughout. But it was handled so sensitively and really did a fantastic job of exploring the rawness of Anna's feelings in the aftermath of her rape.

This is so thoughtful, honest and a great exploration of Anna's feelings and mindset in the almost immediate aftermath. An incredibly powerful take on the notion of being 'soiled' and how she believes she might affect John (I won't deny I got choked up when she thought of staining his coat, shirt and hands). It's wonderful how John counteracts her 'irrationality'. It breaks my heart that they are both at pains not to put the other at fault, and by doing so heap it upon themselves. But it's so true. Angsty, yes, but I love how you've weaved little bits of hope in too - the warmth, the light, the comfort and hope against the pain.

I'm glad that we have S4 canon fics like this one.

Great flick... Would be great if you could continue the Bates' journey ... There are not enough ff around hers and his feelings and journey back from season four.

The pain both Anna and John are suffering in these moments is palpable. Your words bring everything back with such clarity. Anna not wanting to sully John with her perceived filth and John wanting nothing more than to take all Anna's pain away and reassure her of his love for her. *sighs* I am not sure which one feels more guilt over what happened.
