Drones-of-Innocence chapter 2 . 3/13/2016
Whoah! This was such a lovely work! It truly captures the sheer ruthlessness of demons and their nature as most people would imagine :D I really like this a lot, it explores Arthur so deeply and so sadly...As Arthur is not a child, I suppose he wouldn't come back as a demon unless the circumstances for an adult that was murdered(because almost every death in war is a murder, right? That's debatable I guess) were different, perhaps he wouldn't terrorise the earth, instead maybe he were to be sent off to Hell. If Arthur did come back, I feel like he would live out the rest of time somewhat resentful towards Alfred. If there were some way, I also can imagine Alfred hopelessly chasing after him because despite all, he does really care about Arthur, but it is within Arthur's nature now to never forgive. Sorry, I thought that was an interesting thought XD

This was very symbolic and deep and I enjoyed reading it a lot! You have a very intricate way with words and it made this tale so much like an old fable. Love it a lot!
Diurnal Days chapter 2 . 2/9/2016
This. This was absolutely beautiful (and so very, very inappropriate for July 4th - in all the right ways ;) )

Alfred's nature as a demon who instigates violence and bloodshed has a lot of meaning here. Chaos seems to almost be influenced by some supernatural force at some times. And his repeated insistence that he didn't have to push very hard to cause a war among humans due to man's very nature has a lot of truth to it. We humans - sweaty, naked, angry apes - love to fight over the littlest things. And the dismal truth that Alfred, after his premature death, can only find it in himself to sow the seeds of death in his wake, makes one ponder just how destructive the circle of desturction is.
The scene in the abandoned Puritan church with Alfred's true nature as a devil revealed and Arthur recoiling in horror as the fire outside rips at Boston is so poignant and vivid that I want to paint the scene out and hang it on my wall so that I can always have a piece of this.

As another reviewer stated, I wonder what France's devil might've looked like. And who would've France's familiar have been? A poor Canadian child who never meant to grant a devil the power begin a political upheaval? Some questions are best left to the imagination.

The blood oath that Arthur made to Alfred when he wasn't so aware how dedicated Alfred was to him, his familiar, is still mysterious even as I churn it over in my mind. Did Alfred require a blood oath with his familiar to form a deeper link? Or maybe he wanted a way to declare his devotion to Arthur with his very own blood. Who knows? Devils are mysterious beings.

Honestly, I wouldn't have been satisfied if Arthur had ran away with a happy ending. No matter what's true about sin, purity, Heaven, and Hell, his fate was twisted the moment he met Alfred. I doubt that someone who knows he set the wheels of war in motion would sleep well at night, at least if he hadn't justified his actions or done it on purpose. Arthur never meant to cause the American Revolution, but many things are not done with intention. I'd like to interpret that Alfred licked the blood clean from the toy soldier and then from Arthur to draw more power from his dying familiar. But hey, that's just how I think of the final lines.
Anyways, I'm elated for your next horribly-but-wonderfully-inappropriate 4th of July fic this year after I read this one. ;)

So this was 100% not what I expected, nor the direction I expected it to go, but it was so very amazing!

Is it wrong for me to think it's cute?!
AEngland chapter 2 . 7/16/2015
Every year I look forward to your Fourth of July stories like I look forward to your Halloween tales. I will be honest, I did expect Alfred's head to be on the chopping block but it seems like he got off the hook this time...sly devil that he is.

I really enjoyed the notion that dark, malicious roots can give birth to discord...the almost supernatural nudge needed to turn civil disobedience into social upheaval. A very accurate portrait of the damage men can make for themselves when they blindly embrace their inner mischief and let it run wild. It did make me wonder what form France's devil would take if America's was a beautiful, starry-eyed hellion? He did have his own dance with the dark side a few years later, after all. Silk brocade clad whilst sharpening a guillotine?

I must add that I left my poor heart with Arthur in the snow. I was so very much on his side throughout the story and truly had hope that there would be a little something extra for the one soul who showed sympathy for the devil. Ah well, I guess where Alfred and Arthur are concerned I am a hopeless romantic! Great story all the way around.
HiItsUriChan chapter 2 . 7/14/2015
"You might be even more of a demon than me, Arthur." Omg, I love that line so much. I'm quite surprised though about how fast Arthur changed and developed his character. One moment he's confused af, then the next moment he's sassy af. I still love him here though.

Meanwhile, Alfred is really an intriguing character in this story. There are just so much about him that is revealed but I kinda feel that there are still more behind it. I swear some tears in my eyes threatened to fall when he said "I wish we could have been friends, Arthur." I don't know why but it just breaks my heart.

Overall, I really love this story and it is definitely one of my favorite Sweet Devil fanfiction. Thank you so much for this!

rocychio chapter 2 . 7/11/2015
Hi again! I've just left my review for Nighthawks (late, I know, but I couldn't did it before, I wasn't ready) and now I want to thank you for this great story (as always).
I love how you can mix history, supernatural creatures and Hetalia stories (Arthur wearing his red coat, meeting Alfred with the colonists uniform, so many feels!). Plus, characters development was great! Alfred, from a mischievous boy, becomes a machiavellian demon. Arthur, from a lonely boy who didn't recognize how much he loved Al, becomes a betrayed man used by demon Al.
The end was perfect. The last words, oh god. I can't handle this feelings!
Very very good story! Thank you again!
