Reviews for Perhaps the Greater
Perchemi chapter 1 . 2/22/2016
Great story! The quote at the end is a favorite of mine and is posted on the board over my desk...
Legoelf chapter 1 . 12/18/2015
Ahhhhhh I loved this! It showed a great insight to Belhadron's past and I must say that I am rather attached to him now
Zeiphyx chapter 1 . 11/20/2015
This was absolutely beautifulSensitively written and you can definitely tell that it comes from an experience you've had. I don't normally like OCs either, but Belhadron is so well thought out and well written that I really enjoy him. Thanks
Jedi Sapphire chapter 1 . 10/27/2015
This is a delightful story - which is probably the wrong word to use given the theme, but you know what I mean. :) I like it!
Brightpath2 chapter 1 . 8/13/2015
THIS WAS SO SAAAAAAAAAD!
:) But also long awaited, and very much loved.
Oh Belhadron . . . . . . how horrible . . . and his brother was very young for an elf when he died, which would make it likely a lot worse.
I love Legolas and Belhadron's friendship even more after this one-shot, and I loved it quite a lot beforehand. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for our wayward elflings :)
Eruaphadriel Green chapter 1 . 7/29/2015
You have grown so much in your work lady. This is beautiful! I'm sorry to hear of your friend and mentor but it is true. Time moves on as much as life does. The hurt dims but never quite fades. Just remember that your life is yours to live and not for someones els. Do not let the the past define you and continue to move forward as you should. Belhadron is learning this as are you and so are all of us.
SnidgetHex chapter 1 . 7/25/2015
Beautiful story. I think a lot of people who have lost someone will recognise the emotions portrayed in this chapter (I can say I did). I want to condole you with your loss.
Aini NuFire chapter 1 . 7/22/2015
It's a beautiful piece, and though it was hard for you to write, I hope it also helped. My uncle recently passed away as well, and while I wasn't close enough with him to feel the same measure of grief, watching my mother and other relatives deal with it has been hard. Everyone wants to convey their condolences, and it seems like the proper thing to do, but in a way it makes it worse for the people who are grieving. Thanks for the story, and I hope you're enjoying your vacation. :)
Celeblas of Mirkwood chapter 1 . 7/21/2015
So sad! I feel for you Belhadron! Thank you Legolas for taking care of him. Lovely oneshot, Hannon le, mellon nin!
nyx thranduillon chapter 1 . 7/21/2015
Heartbreaking and so very well written the pain and grief were almost palpable yet in the end there is still hope.

An excellent story and I hope that in writing this you too have found some outlet for your own grief.

Take care. Nyx
1356-2478 chapter 1 . 7/19/2015
I love how you're going into Belhadron's history, sad though it is.
I had wondered about it, and not many go into the other Elves of the realm.
I cannot wait to read more.
Eryniel Alasse chapter 1 . 7/19/2015
Oh, this is so heartbreaking! Why must you be so cruel to Belhadron? *sniffles* I've had a liking for him ever since he appeared in "Just a Friend," but now when I learn more about him… it's so sad. I felt every moment of his grief, and then felt the need to give the poor elf a hug. *cuddles*

One of the descriptions that especially impressed me was the thought about the world going on even though in Belhadron's eyes, it has no right to do so after the death of his brother. A loss sometimes knocks you off your feet and leaves you floundering in the stream of life. Extreme grief often feels like that, even to the point of wondering what point there is in living anymore. I'm glad, though, that you didn't take it that far, because I really think I would cry if Belhadron faded! But of course, he appears in later stories, so that's obviously not what happened.

Also, I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. I know what it's like to have an elderly person that you holds close and then lose from cancer. I had an adopted grandmother, for lack of a better description, and she passed away from an aggressive form of brain cancer about a year ago. Since then, my mother and I have become very close to her husband, and I really do think that he needs the company because his life is so much emptier without his wife. But anyway, please accept my deepest sympathies, and I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

Keep writing these wonderful stories, and I can't wait for the next! If I could be so bold, could I request a story where Amdar is reborn in Valinor and is reunited with his brother? That'd be so neat, and would give this tale a happy ending, which I think all of the characters deserve! :)

Hugs, Eryn
Horsegirl01 chapter 1 . 7/19/2015
Very touching indeed, and very true to life with the emotions and grief. You did excellent describing everything, and it was very realistic. I am sorry to hear about your friend. I lost my mom last year, so can relate to recent grief. It is so true, though, that time cannot stop because of it, though I have known people that expect it to and that expect you to as well. Very wise words, and I really enjoyed it. Poor Belhadron! No wonder he is so protective of Legolas! Now we need to have a one shot of when Legolas gets hurt badly in battle and Belhadron nearly falls apart in angst... (hint, hint). :) Looking forward to reading more. In the meantime, have a great trip!
earthdragon chapter 1 . 7/19/2015
This is very good. You made a slight error though. You said that Belhadron "buried his brother beside his parents...". This makes it sound as though their parents are already dead and Amdar lies in the ground next to them, when in fact they are both alive. What you should have said is "With his parents beside him, Belhadron buried his brother.".

That aside, it is nice to get a back story about Belhadron to explain his intensity.
Guest chapter 1 . 7/18/2015
First of all I have to say Im sorry for your loss. Hope that both you and the others who knew your friend is getting better soon.

Aww poor Belhadron he sounded so very much lost of what to do, but happy he got back on his legs in time. The saddest is when a death of someone totally breaks a living person. Have you ever written of how Belhadron and Thranduil took it when they heard that Legolas had left on the Quest? Or is it just me who have lost the track. Anyway I cant image that message would fall easy on the two Elves. I almost image Belhadron both angry and concerned for his friend. Maybe half thinking og running after him? Who knows friendship do run deep. And for Elves I think it may go even more deep than most humans, because of their long life.
By the way you dont need answer me fast on my reviews. Im going on vacation tomorrow so I will not have time to answer for some days anyway.
