I love your version of what should've happened for the OWLs and NEWTs (cancelling them outright would've had me blowing a gasket, idiot Albus) or the handling of the Basilisk, the diary and fight between possessed Ron and the teachers, etc.

It's amazing how just a slight change to canon makes all the difference in how the story is told.

Well if course Hagrid isn't going to confront Snape. First is a little too gentle of a soul. Second that would mean also him having to admit that Dumbledore's not all knowing
