Just find this fic today and enjoying it, I do hope videl least learns the kaioken. If anyone can master it, it seems videl in your fic thus far could. She coming along way and enjoy how she writers the was she should have been in first place. Rather. Than tossing her aside and making her a trophy wife

If I remember right, when I first read this I didn't particularly like it. I think that a lot of it rubbed me the wrong way. But after re-reading it I've come to like it. It's not perfect, but I'm invested and enjoying it.

So I hope to see what comes next.

Gotta say im from South Africa where we've got many cultural(especially black) backgrounds where its shocking to me that Videl is so brazen when talking with her parent. It literally would be the end of the earth type of shit to find parents discuss sex life with their kids this way(in the township or hood as they say in America).you are literally giving me a perspective that I haven't thought of on DBZ.

Story as refreshing as this one has been; Probably not since gue22's gohan&videl's fics. Ptsd an angle which hasn't been tackled so far. Your characterization of Videl especially is excellent. I really loved Barbie and the hole fight scene which is better than all kamehameha fights out there. Mano a mano. Hopefully the standard doesn't drop from now on out.

Videl isn't a tragic character the reason she became more passive and stop fighting was due to getting utterly destroyed in the tournament

There's a bunch of "edgy for the sake of edginess" shit in the story so far, but that's not actually a problem. It's been internally consistent, so that's fine. The problem is that of the dozen or so edge shit you've introduced, one or two were fixated on and repeated over and over in a very short period of time.

It gets tedious. After the first or second time the reader can figure out what you want the characters to say, even if it's different from the original.

I really enjoy your version of Master Roshi. I think he's your best character.

you've written a seriously brutal, semi realistic and no-nonsense dragon ball fic here. pat yourself on the back. you deserve it and perhaps much more.

The story is titled passion of the father, yet hercule still feels like a secondary protag to gohan and videl. I'd like to see Hercule get some more spotlight in his attempt to redeem himself.

There is a considerable absence of bulma and vegeta here. i think they should appear more in the story. since bulma is like the earth's secondary leader to king furry. not to mention her fame, riches and intelligence. while vegeta will most likely come to the warzones just to see if there is a worthy opponents to fight. and logically, other z fighters should be appearing soon, since this is an earth wide crisis.

I agree on many of your criticism about toriyama. imo he's better off focusing on his silly and ridiculous 'alare' series. since the earliest dragonball arc is focused more on comedy that works quite well. while dragonball z is more realistic, brutal, and mature. to me, the end of buu arc (just right before the nonsense of goku leaving with uub for lame reason) is the canon end of dragon ball series (don't like super. too much goku vegeta stuff and govid is nerfed to the point of irrelevance. in any case, i think gohan, videl and hercule's relationship is one of the strongest point of dragonball series (also don't forget vegeta and bulma's rocky and weird relationship, and maybe chi2 and goku's hopeless family that somehow still held together).

in any case, don't push yourself too hard for this fic. your wellbeing is more important. i can wait patiently for next chapters. hopefully other readers can be patient too.

You are misunderstanding human and saiyan life spans are basically the same but saiyans look the same as they do in there prime as they do in old age since they are warriors it is never said that saiyans live longer than humans but what they meant was that when goku is 80 he will look like he is in his thirties while chichi at 80 would look like an 80 year old human but I can see what you were thinking but if you look at goku era vegeta is dead while it is true that goku is alive goku had obtained a 1000 year lifespan from elder kai when he gave him the rest of his life span to him meaning if goku was wished back with the dragon balls he would have his original life span of about 80-100 years restored but elder kai had about 1000 years left in his life which was given to goku. Also take note that in goku era gohan goten trunks and bra are all dead even pan was only a little over 100 when goku series started since goku era happened 100 years after DBZ if the saiyans really did live longer than humans even if it was only double of a humans life span they would all still be alive but they are not.
